You're electric meter may be ripping you off.

Earlier this year I had a digital meter installed at my house. When the guy came out to do it, he told me that my old meters contacts on the inside had been charred and melted. He said not only was I at risk of the thing just lighting up into a giant white ball of flame on the side of my house, that it was likely also reading my power wrong. Usually, when it's messed up like that it reads high. He reported that this is normal for older electric meters, they start to get worn out, charr up ect.

SO, fast forward to now, a good 5-6 months later and my electric bill is consistently 100-200$ cheaper compared to when I had the old meter last year. I'm running MORE power now than I did before too since I recently installed a 2 ton A/C in my room.

And there yah go, if you have an old electric meter like mine was, 15-20 yrs or so. There's a decent chance it's worn out and overcharging you.
