yeah i brought this up on another thread but i got mixed results most dont know what they are talking about, and a couple im hoping nailed it on the head. i discovered these critters on one plant on the top of the soil and rim of pot and i think i narrowed it down to hypoaspis miles which is a predatory mite. thing is ive been growing indoors for three years and know quite a few other growers here in the golden state and every one i spoke to never seen or heard of these guys. yeah they heard of predatory mite me too but never seen or knew of what i explained everyone says killem all so im making another effort to some ADVANCED growers to let me know if they ever seen or had this happen the funny thing is i only see them on the one plant and its perfectly healthy from what i can see geres the vid

hey man, google "diatomaceous earth" its a product that I most certainly can verify helps with pests although nowadays I dont mind them as much. To my knowledge its really finely ground up sand or glass shards essentially that are harmless to us as they feel like super fine sand but to small hard shelled incests it gets in their armor and cuts em' up. you just sprinkle it on the top of the soil.

Not exactly answering your question the way you'd like, but that's life, and I am sorry, but if you are in doubt about what it is exactly I think the best way to approach this situation is to get rid of it.

Does anyone here use Captain Jack's? It's organic... I use it now, (just pro-actively so far), and have yet to have any kind of infestation since.

if you have identified them as a predatory mite, why havent you tried to spread them to your other plants, i know some people intentionally use predatory mites to keep down gnat problems, etc.. i mean what the hell, do you want us to pat you on the back? there are billions of different insects on this planet, and i bet if you dug around in your yard you might find a few varieties of similar insects, I have seen those bugs before, just not on my grow, and I wouldnt have given them a second thought unless i saw them in my grow,

the reason most of the growers you talked to havent heard of them, is cause they probably didnt get a degree in horticulture or study insects,

so come on, dont post a thread just to see if other people are as smart as you. you wont get any worthwhile comments, a better idea might be to write up an article about this creature and post that so you are actually educating people.

all due respect i dont think u get it either im not sayin i know it all by any means. i think this is my first thread in the advanced area and only to get help from a tru advanced grower which im the first to admit im not. and now i get all these comments from people i can tell dont know what the fuck im talkin about and think they know it all. please dont take this as an reponse attack on ur comment cuz its not im truly tryng to find the best thing to do. i dont want to kill them if they are good and i dont want to keep them if their bad and its getting frustrating with these little kids who think they know it all copping attitudes with stupid comments

Well pickle, you know, since I DID bring your attention to them, and posted the pics for you, and the link on Wiki, and you think they are indeed hypoaspis miles, I don't get the problem. They're not on your plant at all, just the soil, and they cant easily travel from one plant to another, since they dwell in the top layer of the soil. Thats what it looks like you have to me. Good luck finding more experienced growers to help you out and tell you whatcha wanna hear! :)

i thought of that the spreading them around but i want to be 1000% sure first and i keep saying i dont know shit the only reason i put it in advanced area is to get more knowledgable responses, but even here it seems there is some lack comprehension skillz cuz i never claim much knowledge at all. and in our controlled enviroment we dont get the billions of bugs u speak of. pretty much "MOST" every bug or pest is on a list on any pot forum site. please read the post again and tell me where i come off as a know it all the only yhing i said was ive been doin this for three years
