ok well i use FFOF and running out of my last 12qt bag and was wondering what kind of deals have you found on the internet? i got $9.99 per 12 qt bag plus $13.99 for shipping (to where i live) so im looking at $64 for 5 12qt bags every purchase which will last me a couple months. anyone got better? any other top quality soils like black gold that you have good deals on with good results.

Just get some basic topsoil (free) and add blood meal, bone meal, myco's, bat poop, chicken poop, cow poop, seaweed extract, and perlite. It may cost you as much but you'll have enough to make three times as much.

haha i like it. i need to find a good source of top soil!

Although now thinking of it, it would be pretty weird sitting in my apt parking lot mixing a bunch of dirt lol

Something really cheap, compact, and re-usable. Coco coir Bricks and Blocks. They are pretty much inert, so you would have to water with a nutrient solution, but it's cheap. Compressed into block form for practical stacking and storage. Isn't dirt. Bug free. Full of fungi. (Good Trichoderma kind). Bricks of 3-5 gallons of medium cost 2.50 - 4.00, Blocks cost 10-20 for about 15 gallons or so.

i just cut my cost down and i love this mix been using it for the last year, FFOF plus a bag of miracle grow organic and a shit load a perlite... I swear by it !

NOT THE CHEAPEST, JUST THE BEST

Subcool's Super Mix

The mix is placed in the bottom ¼ to ½ of the container and blended with base soil. This allows the plants to grow into the strongly concentrated soil and, in the right size container, they need nothing else but water throughout the full growing cycle. With strains requiring high levels of nutrients like Cheese and Space Queen and other high energy demand strains, we go as strong as ¾ of the container with Super Soil but this is only with a small percentage of strains.

Here are the amounts we have found that produce the best tasting buds and strongest medicines:

*** If using an RO system add in 1/2 cup powdered Cal/mag

8 large bags of high quality organic potting soil with coco and Mycorrhizae
25-50 lbs. of organic worm castings
5 lbs. of Blood meal 12-0-0
5 lbs. Bat guano 0-5-0
5 lbs. Fish Bone Meal 3-16-0
¾ cup Epsom salt
1 cup Sweet lime (Dolomite)
½ cup Azomite ( Trace element)
2 Tbs. powdered Humic acid

1/2 Batch:

4 bags Organic Base Soil
12.5-25 lbs. Worm Castings
2.5 lbs Fish Bone Meal
2.5 lbs Bat Guano
2.5 lbs Blood Meal
3/8 cup (1/4 cup + 1/8 cup) Epsom Salts
1/2 cup Sweet (dolomite) Lime
1/4 cup Azomite
1 Tbs Powdered Humic Acid

1/3 Batch:

2.7 bags Organic Base Soil
8-16 lbs Worm Castings
1.7 lbs Fish Bone Meal
1.7 lbs Bat Guano
1.7 lbs Blood Meal
1/4 cup Epsom Salts
1/3 cup Sweet (dolomite) Lime
2.5 Tbs Azomite
2 tsp. powdered Humic Acid

I pay 18 bucks for a huge bag of FFOF. Anything real heavy I try and get nearby as the shipping will usually outweigh the savings you'd get online.

Almost every nursery or garden center sells a "house brand" soil mix. It will have good water retention, good drainage, and best of all, no added nutes. You can control what goes in. Add EWC, some kelp or bone meal, compost, or what ever nutes you use.

Would i need to add the kelp, bone meal, and compost? or could i just feed with nutrients? i use the organic on my clones when i transplant into soil then feed 1/4th strength after a few days they do fine but then i transplant into FFOF. could i use organic with some perlite through the whole grow and just feed normally or would that not work?

edit: never mind, did some research just going to mix organic with some FFOF. if i had the heart to make the best soil, which someday i might who knows, id definitely make my own but for now ill take the already mixed soil and just mix with some organic soil.
