I'd like to know how a person would go about starting, and operating a legal medical marijuana farm in California.

I already know about the expensive courses offered at places like oaksterdam.

I'm not sure the laws allow one person to grow large quantities (as in mass production). Isn't there a limit to how much a person or co-op can grow?

yes there is a limit... senate bill establishes a baseline statewide limit per patient of 6 mature plants or 12 immature plants, plus 1/2 pound ( 8 ounces) procvessed cannabis. patients can be exempted from these limits if their physician specifically states that they need more. in addition, individual cities and counties are allowed to enact higher, but not lower, limits than the sate standard. For instance, holbolt County allows patients up to 3 pounds plus 99 plants in 100 square feet of growing area . for a list of other local limits,
see http://www.canorml.org/prop/local215policies.html

to grow anything more then what your city or county allows you to grow can only be done by other patients allowing you to grow their medical cannabis. you have to have their license in plain site and it has to for just the medical needs of those patients... i belive there is a little more to it then that but that is the basic of what i know

“Farm.” Do not assume that LEO is friendly because you consider yourself legal; legal being in compliance with CA law and its interpretation. The current interpretation seems to be that you can not grow for profit. Other people who read this will disagree but it looks like the AG wrote the guidelines to remove profit. Stupid from a standpoint of delivery of any commodity, but it seems to be what LEO and the AG want.

Also even the areas that were really liberal are now cracking down on “farms” due to environmental disasters left by irresponsible growers. Lastly I walk by the Okersdam U window all the time and the jury nullification advert is very shaky at best. A growing charge in anywhere out here is somewhat large in terms of bail. But put an extra lock on the door - a second charge gets lodged, have a gun on person or premises – a third charge is lodged. Cops hate the med MJ laws and just to jack you up they add a conspiracy charge. Suddenly bail alone is up to $100,000.00 or more. 8% to 10% premium is up to 10,000.00 or higher. Then there are lawyers to pay for if you get busted.

Don’t get me wrong I like big growers. Most of what I get comes from them and the quality is high. But they all have a big risk and arrest and jail is only one part of it. Just be informed.
