Yielding no rosin?

Hey guys so I just tried pressing rosin for the first time with a variable flat iron, I put the nug between the parchment, squish it a bit with my fingers then put it in the iron and press with all my weight. I've tried temps from 220-440(I only went that high to see if the temp readout was just bad) and still get absolutely zero wax. I got a 600 lb clamp on the way to add some more pressure, but I don't think this is a problem with pressure because I should be getting something with just my weight. Could it be because I'm using water cured buds??? The buds are really dry and have a massive amount of kief. I'm thinking its because the buds are to dry. Should I rehydrate the buds and then try again?

Not that I'm aware of.
I've just done a bunch of reading so far....pressing dry shouldn't create a problem.
Are you sure the iron is getting hot?
Might try a press with just kief.

Good luck

The iron feels hot to the touch for sure it has an led readout but i let it hit its temp like 10 minutes before pressing to make sure it's definitely hot enough. The nugs get super compressed and super hot but there is zero wax

Got a really good magnifier? Can you check the buds?
Have you smoked any?
Because it would suck if you got blasted weed:cuss:

Yeah, I have an eye loop, it isn't blasted, it's quite strong especially by weight, but you can tell the buds are dry because the trichomes are so brittle, and this is because of the water cure followed by the dehydrator. Because it's so dry I imagine grinding it would help, but then you gotta worry about plant matter in the wax.

Some stains don't produce much. But I have found with my press that re-hydrating the buds definitely helps with resin collection when pressing the buds.

Are you applying heat on both sides like pressing between 2 plates or are you just applying heat from one side?

Both sides im using the hair straightener method, tomorrow ill be getting a 600lb handclamp and my buds will be rehydrated by then so i guess we will find out tomorrow how it works out, ill upload some pictures too.

I think the clamp combined with the the re-hydration will produce for you. I press at 190F for 45 seconds, but I always use fresh dried bud, 3-4 days in my house. Good pressing.DSCN0722.JPG DSCN0723.JPG DSCN0735.JPG
