YIELD: four Autoflower, 2' x 2' x 4.6' tent, 280 actual watt LED, 100 watt t5...

Hi,

New to this site. I have a 2' x 2' x 4.6' tent. I just purchased an LED that will fill the top of my tent with an ACTUAL draw of 280 watts, with 3 watt diodes and proper spectrums for both veg and flower. I am planning to do side lighting with two 2' T5's and two 3' T5's and was also considering putting one or two 100 or 200 watt CFL's on repositional arms for easy movement. It will be a soil grow.

I am planning to do 4 Northern Lights autoflowers to start (1 per square foot), and to maybe slightly scrog them to keep the height under control. I would like to be harvesting more frequently and from what I have read, over the course of a year, autoflowers if done correctly can produce quite well.

My question is this:
Is there any way I might be able to pull a pound each harvest off of four autoflowers? Would my current setup make that possible and if not, what changes could I make to better my odds given my available space? Also, if everything is done correctly, what type of yield COULD I expect from this setup with four NL autos?

Any comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated, thank you :D

I can only tell you My experiences in my grows, there are a lot of variables to consider like seed quality, air quality, soil type, and temps when it comes to yield. I've been doing autos with soil and led's for years, using a 400w panel, happy frog soil, and foxfarm nutes in 5 gal pots I generally yeild 1 1/2 to 3oz finished dried product. If I add my second panel I have yielded 4oz or more per but rarely. Like I said lot of variables. And fyi... While possible you may run into difficulties in scrogging your autosdue to their very short veg cycle. Hope this helped

Considering all those things: soil, air, 5 gallon pots; are done properly, with the lighting setup I plan, do you think I could get around the same yield as yourself or more?

Also, does your LED actually DRAW 400 watt? The panel I purchased has 8 sets of 15 diodes at 3 watts each which works out to 360 watts but the actual draw is 280 watts...

Also, thank you very much for your prompt response. I sincerely appreciate it :D

About a pound is the standard answer given to anyone here asking how much will I yield, truth is there is no way of knowing, anything can happen at any time during your grow, so it could be a monster of a crop, or a compeate loss, you never know till it's dried and cured, given its your first grow you should concentrate on learning the basics, you'd be surprised how much difference knowing how to water a plant correctly can make, just try to keep them healthy and enjoy the hobby, any finished product is a win first time out

I am familiar with most of the basics and have been doing excessive research on every stage of development and different techniques for growing, watering, etc.

If nothing bad happened during my grow and all conditions were ideal, given the setup I have described, how much do you think I could reasonably yield from a tent that size?

A pound per 4 plants would be 4 oz per plant, in a 2x2 tent that's aiming a little high. Especially since your tent is pretty short at 4.6 feet.
I recon half that is more realistic, 2 oz per plant is what you can expect. 4 oz is what you can hope for :)
Yeah, unfortunately I only have space for a 2 x 2 cause it's a closet grow. I will most likely take a trip to the hardware store and make some adjustments to my closet to be able to accommodate a taller tent for my next grow.

How much height do you think would be ideal/necessary for my intentions?

In all your research how tall was the tallest auto you came across? Allow 20" of light space above that and you have your answer:peace:

Good point and thank you for the input. I suppose I will wait until my next grow and upgrade to a gorilla tent with adjustable height that has a few more feet on my current tent. I suppose for now I will just get my supplies together and see how things work out :D

Thank you again for your feedback :D

4 plants in that space will be very crowded. constantly burning in the sidelights. Have you ever grown a cannabis plant? Im not seeing how you can grow a bush in a square foot...I think you would have light penetration issues, and airflow issues leading to mold

I think you absolutely could match what I yeild with the right conditions. As far as my lights to be honest not sure of the exact wattage output and never really concerned myself with it, just know I get fantastic results with my led's. I have reflector full spectrum models. Pretty damn comprible to the 400my I used to run. And as far as the height of your tent goes I wouldn't concern myself too much about that, most of mine stay around 3 ft or so and as long as you have good ventilation you can damn near run them all the way up to the light as mine often end up within a few inches anyway.

Do you think that my 2 x 2 tent will get too crowded with 4 plants? I am planning to grow Northern Lights autos. As for the ventilation I am going to put in a 6" fan with some good power, as well as a temperature fan controller to keep the variance from night to day ideal. If that is not enough then I will consider adding a forced intake while obviously keeping negative pressure in the tent.

Also, do you think Northern Lights is a good strain to start off with or should I go with something else?

basically I want to put whatever I can into this tent to get the best possible outcome...

If you are that concerned with yield why are you running n lights autos? There are tons of other autos with far better yield, if it's the n lights smoke you want with yield just run photo period on a 12/12 cycle from seed, no loss of thc, and a better yield

I chose autoflower because it is more likely to produce a higher yield over the course of a year, considering my arrangement ,from the research I have done.

I chose NL cause they are hailed as one of the easier first time grows with a good yield. Do you have any suggestions for a strain that would be more likely to give me the yield I want, that would also be suitable for my setup and space?

Yeah your Definately gonna get crowded in there, your gonna be doing quite a bit of maintenance and trimming to keep it under control. Two good autos can fill that space easy

With proper training techniques you can grow any plant in any space, I'm not sure where you are researching, but if you were told you are gonna get more yield per year on an auto strain I'd look to a different place, just not sure how that's gonna happen, autos were designed to be ran outside in cold weather climates, people run them indoors mostly do to space constraints, and some(like me) run them with photo period plants during the veg state, when the autos finish I flip to 12/12 on the rest of the tent, as far as yield there is heavyweight vast and fast 1&2, barneys critical rapido, think different, 60day wonder etc.etc. most seed vendors have search features that allow you to filter based on yield projections, but keep in mind these are only projections, all the research in the world can't beat actual experience, think of it this way, you could spend thousands of hours reading about how to ride a bike, but until you get on and start pedaling it's only research, not saying don't do it, just saying that yield figures from vendors are based on what experienced growers who have seen deficiencies and accesses, and pests and petulance, and know what to do immediately when they pop up, and how to avoid them get, they also use grow areas that they know well and have spent years dialing in, getting your setup just right takes time and tweaking. And it all starts with planting that first seed and waiting and reacting, don't worry about the end till you get to the beginning
