Yield expectations - video

This is my current grow - 60x70 cm box with a 400W HPS light, growing in soil, also using dutch formula nutes:

This is 7 weeks into flowering and there are about 2-3 weeks more to go, I guess the buds will beef up a bit more till harvest time.

They are mostly sativa dominant so there aren't really big and dense buds like most indica has

Can anyone suggest DRY crop weight?

It depends alot on your skills and the strain, but a good benchmark is a gram per watt.

hehe :) I am hoping 0.5 grams per watt

My first indoor grow I did pretty bad - got about 60-70 grams dry with the same setup, I have a good feeling this time I will get 3-4 times that

It is strange that the plants just don't want to concentrate on the top colas, long after I switched to flowering some small top branches just shoot themselves up, really stretched and with tiny shallow buds, they went so high to a point the bottom branches became higher than the top colas, maybe it's because of the hormones the plants produce when they are tied down. My last grow the highest plants were about 1 meter, now with the same strain I have plants that are probably about 2 meters, tied down and twisted all around.

If you top them, you get more weed. Also you can have the light lower that way and that should help grow bigger buds. Your 400 is not good for big plants that are 2 meters tall it just dont reach that deep. Keep your plants shorter and have the light right on them with a cooltube or a fan blowing in between the light and the canopy.

Your sativa dominant looks to be atleast another 4 weeks out imo. You said you used nutes, but what kinda soil you use and do you use supplements?

most of the plants are already topped, most of the plants have 4 main colas, I have a cooltube and the light is really close to the plants, maybe 15 cm, also the total overall height of the plants is about 1m, the plants which are taller are tied down, producing an insane amount of side branches.

I haven't used anything besides the nutes, the soil is plagron - I am pretty happy with it compared to other types of soil I've used before

I have never used a fan to blow on the plants cuz the moving plants generate insane amouths of odor, plus my previous grows worked just fine without a fan, I have a good circulation in the box and don't use a carbon filter.

It seems I will have plenty of weak and shalow buds, so I plan on trying to make some gumby hash with them and the trimmings and leave the bigger and denser buds for smoke

I dont know plagron soil, so i dont have an opinion on that. One thing about soil is important tho, it has to be PH stable. All i can say is keep tweaking and your yields will come. A fan blowing on the plants is pretty important, it moves the air around the leaves. This helps it take up CO2 and makes the plant stronger by weaving them back n forth, so it can carry heavy buds. Good luck.

Yeah I know that, but as I said I have pretty good air circulation, the air comes from beneath the plants, actually there is a small space under the box that has 2 100CFM fans blowing air inside it, and the bottom of the box is all drilled in holes so the air enters from the whole surface of the box floor and goes up to the top, where there are 2 100CFM exhaust fans, so air is moving through the volume of the whole box from bottom to top and there is not a single dead spot thats left with poor circulation :)

Also the strain I am growing seems to have pretty solid stem, a plant about 1 m high, if not topped for 4 main colas, has a stem as fat as mu thumb and thats pretty much IMO

I have tried to use a fan inside, I have a special small oscillating fan, but it keeps on pushing the buds into each oder and that creates a lot of weed odor, I also suspect it damages trichs, cuz they are the source of the odor, bumping the buds into each other by the fan breaks the trichs and they emit odor molecules.

Plagron is pretty much the best soil I can find around here, it is not general purpose soil, it is sold in weed grow shops, pH is about 5.6 and pretty stable, I usually water with pH 7 when using only tap water, or pH 6.5 when using nutes, so my guess is pH varies arround the 6.0 - 6.3 range - I think thats OK for cannabis

Try changing your nutes and use some supplements. Maybe thats the differnce your looking for. Seems like you know what your doing, so change things up next grow. Good luck.

for sativas those are some nice big tops man... looks beautiful in there, i don't think you have anything to worry about with yields, it'll probably surprise you

8 plants, 3 of them with 4 main colas, 4 of them LST'ed and 1 straight up with a huge bud the size of my fist on it's top - thats probably the best plant, it has a huge WIDE stem, I took most of it's side branches for clones so the plant pretty much concentrated everything on it's main top cola
