Yes.. A 30watt micro grow!

Hi, I'm new to growing, and to this website, this is my first thread but hopefully not the last. I'm currently growing an autoflower blue treacle seed, I started off with the cup method to germ the seed, left it overnight and woke up to nothing (expected) have it another 6-7 hours and still, nothing. Being new to the game and very impatient I resulted to literally cracking the seed with my teeth, this in turn led to me biting the seed almost in half, i quickly threw it into my growing medium (medium soil mix with perlite) dreading the worst. 2 days flew by with the plant pot under my room light (unknown wattage). To my disbelief, I was staring at a thin white stem about 5mm high with the smallest green leaf i top of it. I quickly bashed together a temporary 'grow box' with a *30watt- 3 setting lamp* as my only light source, I have no light timing but keep it either on the windowsill or under the lamp, the plant is now very thin and about 8mm tall but has sprouted a second leaf adjacent to the first, this is the 4th day and I'm really needing opinions and any tips I can get! I'll be posting a picture of my grow space soon.

Thanks guys, look forward to replies and I hope you can help!

For one NEVER bite your seed let it do the work. You might want to at least get a 125 watt cfl for veg then double that for flower. You need a timer for veg/flower keep it on 18-6 to 24-0 light schedule consistency is key here for a good grow. When you flip(switch light schedule) to bloom you want 12-12. You can NOT expose your plant to light outside of this schedule or you run a high risk of hermy.

If you intend to keep the wattage this low your yield will be meager amounts of low quality.

I shall up my game then, maybe get a good few CFL's! To clarify, this is an auto grow so the light switch doesn't need to be too drastic to put it into flower does it?

yes it needs 5000 lumens per sq ft of canopy look at your bulb ratings.Yeah you don't even need to do a light switch woops scimmed through your post keep it on a 18-6 with those. here is a list of which bulbs are best cfl<T5<led<hps/mh if you can afford it try out a six lamp 2ft t5 with 2 cool white and 4 warm white bulb in it then you don't have to switch lights.

This is a good bargain one.

Yeah that looks perfect for my grow space, I may go down the route of 2-3 of both CFL's and LED's low around the plant to get a smaller bushier canopy, each being 40watts? Sound reasonable?

Keep it simple your first grow just use one light source, then start experimenting with supplementing light. If you get led get COBs they are the only ones worth it but come at a scalper price for a good one. Personally i would get T5s over leds unless you get the COBs . Top it once or twice, since its a auto if you top too much it will loss yield. With T5s you can get them down to 2" from your canopy without burning it unlike any of the others besides CFLs but they are less efficient than T5s.

Ok sure, the T5's are less efficient than the T5's?;) I'll check out COBs and come back to you, I need a wooden structure around the plant first so can wire the lights above it, so far it's more of a botch job set up as I'm providing just enough light for the entail sprouting, then as I go along im gonna build my more solid box structure around it. What wiring would I need to fix a large CFL to it? On a busker here aswel to im looking to spend £30 tops on the light as its only the one plant

That is about what im looking for at a good price, Id only use it at 2700K for flowering and put a few 40watt around the edges. But what about this grow light? All I'm thinking is it may not be strong enough for flowering?:/

No that won't work for anything but maybe seedlings. Probably not though.

Someone, somewhere had made a growbox in to the first medi-kit box, it worked - but it was silly...
