Yellowing progressively from top to bottom

I have an issue where the leaves of the plant are starting to turn yellow. At first only the bottom set, then as they completely turned yellow, the next set started, and it appears to be moving on up.

My setup:

  • 400watt MH, 18on/6off
  • Bubble Bucket with Top Feed (self-contained) (feeding 15min on/2hr:45min off
  • 780ppm (GH Flora Grow, Bloom, Micro Hardwater, GH Floralicious Plus)
  • 6.2pH
  • 72-75(f) avg temp

Any thoughts or input would be appreciated.

Your pH is too high.

Why are you running 6.2 in hydroponics? Aim for 5.8 in the future.

What?

Either you are doing DWC, or you are doing a top feed recirculating drip. Looks to me like you are doing drip, not DWC, but I could be misunderstanding the system.

You are missing out on Nitrogen and Phosphorus. Watch out for root growth being stunted.

I have a basket of hydroton, capped onto a 5 gal bucket. Inside of the bucket is about 2 gallons of nutrient water, with an air pump running a bubble stone 24/7. As well, there is a small submersible pump which flows to the ring that drips into the basket.

Until about 10 minutes ago when I got home and opened the package, I didn't have a digital ph meter. I was using the solution, and it seemed like it was somewhere near the right color. I'll drop the ph.

Is there anything else about my setup that might be a problem? There is a large root coming from the basket, with several root "veins" stemming off, as well there are more roots near the upper outside of the basket.

Getting worse.... :(

I fixed the ph, it is at 5.8

Could this be over/under watering?

Someone please, give me some input.

Okay, I went ahead and changed the water/nutrient mix. pH is at 5.6, hoping to see. I would check the ppm, but I was stoned and dropped the meter in the bucket when I was filling it up with water. So I have to wait for it to dry out before I know if it even works anymore or not. I will update for better or worse. :)

Thank you for the wisdom.

It's looking a bit better. As well as changing the water, I added more hydroton to the top. Looks perkier. Color isn't returning yet, but it isn't worse.

I had an epiphany....

The bucket was on the floor of the closet, which is not carpeted. So it was on straight concrete, probably cooling the hell out of the water. I placed the bucket on a rug for a layer of insulation. We'll see how it goes.

UPDATE:

I'M RETARDED! (you already knew that, though.)

So let me explain a few things here. When I set up the system, I purchased the buckets from Home Depot (in order to spend half as much on each bucket). Well, the thing is Home Depot only sells ORANGE buckets. Without taking into consideration that light was passing through the bucket rather efficiently, I let my single little root that had grown ROT OFF.

ROOT ROT!

I rectified the opacity issue, and added some hydrogen peroxide, and it already looks better, and a couple more roots are popping out of the side of the basket. Hoping for a much happier plant. I am planning on going to the hydro store tomorrow to get some hygrozyme.

Question:

I know the root development has to be seriously lacking, would it be a bad idea to add some Clonex solution to my nutrient mix?
