Y socket for CFL's

Went to fall mart today and picked up a 6500k 42watt for 6.88 but they don't carry the Y sockets...So what i did was pick up a socket that screws into a socket put it has 2 plugs and a pull coard and put a 26 watt on top and the 42 watt pretty much 10 inches away seeing that its on the side of the lamp i also am running 2 48" 40 watt floros....Is this a good idea or should i still go pick up the Y and hang it over the plant....Also how much is my electric bill gonna go up for running these 18/6 cycle??? I know it's diffrent for every area but how bout a ballpark...If ya need pics of my new setup i will post...
 
i don't think a few CFLs will run you much in the electricity department. you're gonna need more than a couple to flower though
 
I was talking total a month with the grow....and this was the only seed i got to germ out of like 8 bag seeds...
 
Am i good now with the setup i have the 26 ontop and the 42 sideways over the plant...I do have 2 48" 40 watt floros going from the floor to the wall in almost a 120 degree angle
 
I don't know if my cfls are too close i have my 42watt like 6 inches from the plant now...Is that to close????
 
anyone know any cheap online places that sell lighting supplies? y sockets, fixtures, aluminum reflectors and wiring?
and no, i cant go to walmart or home depot, everything has to be shipped from online

exactly! i move my plants DAILY , keep the light just off the plant, if you get too close, you will just brown a tip of a leaf. i am within 1 inch with 4 23w cfls and my plants looks like its snowing
 
I had to take the 42 watt out cause my plant was getting too much light wich i thought that the more light the better but the leaves started to curl under so i just put the 26 watt over the plant about 4 inches away and i still have the 2 40 watt floros...I hope this brings the plants back....
