Your total PPM reading is cumulative, so the total PPM is your tap water's PPM PLUS whatever nutrient level you add. Do not subtract the 140 (which is pretty low for tap water btw)!

So as an example, if i was using a .5 ppm meter (Hanna) and my tap water was at 180ppm, and I was shooting for 300-400ppm, I would only need around 240ppm of nutes mixed in? I have read before to subtract the ppm of the water used?
Q- I’m working on my first grow and when I mix my nutes (AN Jungle Juice 44ml G, 29mL M, 14mL B+1Tbs Cal-mag+1 Tbs LK (In with 3gal of 180ppm water)) in a moderate veg mix, according to the AN label, and my ppms were around 1600. From what I’ve read they should be in around 400ppm for 2nd week of veg - from clone. Now is my ppm up so high because I added the Cal-mag and LK? Should I be mixing my GroMicBlo nutes together, subtracting the ppm of the water, and subtracting the Cal-mag and LK? Or do you need to adjust your nutes ppm to your own mix?

Subtract the ppm of your water and, a .5 Hanna meter at 1400 ppm will read 2000 on a .7 meter

If you want 400ppm of nutes with 180ppm water you need your meter to read 580ppm after your nutes have been added.
