wtf is eating my plants

A week or so ago I noticed sign of something eating my plants. It's generally either the growing tip of the side branches (which is fucking annoying) or sometimes defoliation of a medium-large shade leaves. I was thinking it may have been caterpillars but I've I looked my plants up and down but haven't found any likely suspects, just a few spiders, something that looked like a baby praying mantis and a ladybug or too. So after a few more days of attack I got desperate and just sprayed some pyrethrum but no signs of anything coming off the plants really.

The plants are outdoors, approx 3 months, in late veg. just prior to flowering, grown in coco in pots.

I had a very minor problem with caterpillars last season but that was a little later in the season when the plants were flowering and there was the occasional shower.

Any ideas what I'm up against?

Cheers
