Would this work like a Hempy bucket

I was wondering if this would work similar to a Hempy bucket. If you put this insert into the bucket and make sure you put your Hempy hole just below where the top of the insert sits wouldn't that be like a passive hydro setup. You could just pile your coco on top of the insert and away you go, no Perlite or Verm needed. It would seem to hold even more water at the bottom since there is no Perlite filling the bottom void, thus reducing the frequency of the waterings even more.

I'm interested in this. The roots would grow through the holes and into the res. Let us know how it works.
I’m not actually doing this but as I was washing my car and looking into the bottom of my bucket and this idea popped into my head.

I think it might be interesting and I might try it eventually.
