Would this socket work?

I used a old computer power cord, black to black and white to white.Any old power cord should work, with 150w you will be fine. The socket looks like it will work for you.OPH

That socket will fit an E-26 bulb. That is the "standard" (medium sized) screw-in light bulb base size. It will also fit an E-26 HID bulb (either HPS or MH). Larger bulbs, typically, have a larger screw-in base designated as an E-39 and commonly called a "Mogul" base.

Don't let the fact that it will fit mislead you! HID bulbs get very friggin' hot! What you really need is a ceramic socket that can stand up to the heat an HID bulb generates. Preferabely one with a 4,000 watt pulse rating. They do sell ceramic sockets at my local Lowe's, but they aren't 4K Pulse rated - sometimes you have to take what you can get!

i would have to agree

Would one made of bronze worked? I started a different thread about one I just bought earlier, and I'm not entirely sure if it'll work or not. If say the socket were wrong, and I used it anyway to test it, would it do harm to the bulb or ballast in anyway?
