So I have a dwc grow with several buckets and always am having a issue with keeping my water temps down low enough. So I saw what might be a good idea and wonder if it would actually work. So I want to get a mini fridge and set my pump inside of it and run holes through the front door of the fridge to run airlines out into the bucket and a hole on the side of the fridge to run my power cord out. I am including a picture of a diagram that I did that looks like a child did it lol I am not very artsy lol let me know your thoughts on this please thanks guys and gals.

no dont put the pump in the fridge it generates heat and those things are small inside...i have one on the porch. if you keep the pump outside and below the reservoir level in the fridge you shouldn't have to worry about priming the pump and get better chilling...you may also be able to just coil a bunch of hose in the fridge, goes in room temp, comes out fridge temp...then distribute to buckets through manifold

Are you trying to chill the air?

You would be better off, I think either, cycling the nutrient solutions through rolls of tubing in the fridge (like @mudballs ) suggested or setting up an independent fluid cooling system with chiller coils in each bin and cycling that through the fridge. Introducing and removing the air out of a system that is typically under vacuum may not work so well.

StinkBud wrote that he recommends coolers are reservoirs. When browsing the offering on Amazon, I realized there are lots of coolers with built-in refrigeration, and they are not very expensive. Usually run off 12V (car battery) as well as household voltage (110/240).

Connecting a refrigerated cooler to an external temperature control should work to make for a really nice, chilled reservoir.

Maybe somebody wants to try this. I do not have a setup to test it myself.
