I'd like to think people would still be as kind and charitable towards one another without organised religion, but maybe the better question is this; do we really need religion to know the right thing to do, and to do it?
As an atheist, I say I don't need moral guidance from a religious institution to know my right from wrong and indeed to follow a good and just path in life.
I see hypocrites everywhere, some go to church and some do not.
I think smoking weed makes me a more thoughtful and considerate person, and therefore a more ethical one. Do I need to sign up to The Church of Cannabis (there IS one, you know) to be taken seriously? HELL no! Lol
