I just read through this in worms eat my garbage here is what it said. Many people who vermicompost would like to transfer extra worms from their bins to their gardens to increase the worm population there, but I never recommend this for Eisenia fetida because they are not soil dwellers.

I got a buddy that uses worms in his no-till organic growing and they do fine. Worms will eat all sorts of organic materials so I'd say go with the red wigglers. Worse that could happen is they die and add to the organic material your micro-herd will feed on to feed your plants.

Yeah, I’ve read that many people swear by them in no-till, just have to keep a proper layer of mulch. Only negative I’ve seen is that maybe it’s not their “ideal home”... oh well!

I have worms in my 7 gallon rols, they hatch from eggs in the EWC that I top-dress. Pretty good EWC I think, some crawl out at times.
