Wiretapping

Hello, first of all, let me start by saying that I honestly didn't know where to post this, sorry. I don't know if this violates any guidelines if so, I am sorry. I don't intend any of this post to be drug-dealing related, just some general wiretapping (legal) questions. I've just finished watching Barry Cooper's never get busted again. I have no intention of selling or purchasing cannabis, I'm just curious. If you do as Barry suggests, and after a short while buy a new prepaid phone (example: Walmart), how do all your contacts know your new phone number?

As a drug dealer, you would be constantly buying new phones and sim cards, but your "clients" would not. So if you text them your new phone number from your old one, assuming that the law enforcement is wiretapping you, you're busted. But if you text them something like "hey, it's me, JoshThePlug" from your new phone number to all of your "clients", they can just refer this information to the cops if they're an informant, or the cops can just wiretap the contacts that they got from your previous number, see the text message and obviously also your new phone number. That's why all of this "new phone" stuff makes zero sense to me. If you're actually being wiretapped I think you're pretty much screwed, no amount of Walmart phones can save your ass.
Am I missing something here?

Also I don’t believe they have to even have a warrant anymore post patriot act

I new someone a few years ago........They had a batch of modified phones, text only, no locator info, gps, pics or user info etc., 128bit encryption to a private server out of country and if the phones password was incorrectly entered 3 times the phone wiped itself. New phones every 6 months I think he said.
