Lots of folks use fishing line to make fencing. And if you buy the chicken wire, smoke it so it will rust up.
I have old fishing line Ill be using this year for the first time, what would be better for individual groupings of plants, within the clearing or around the outside like 5 ft out but all around?

I'd do both...and if put it up in deer paths leading up to your plants ..or any ways to getting to them..when they run into it they get scared sorta or confused...

I have sprinkled pepper of all kinds and other things that will cause nasal irrational around on the ground and I happen to know it worked well on one occasion beacuse I sprinkled it in softer ground to a certain point and to the same point daily and right up to that point is where the animal tracks would end

i think switching off helps a lot. they tend to get used to a smell if they're around it for a while, so each time you go to your patch, take something different. switch off between moth balls, predator urine, peppers, soap or antiperspirant, don't let them get used to one thing.

This is my feelings and how I strategize. From hunting and being in the woods a lot I know that after things are in the woods for awhile animals feel safer around the smell or object...I put of different things all the time..sweaty clothes are good..if u can kinda hang them up they spread out more spell...grease rags or rags with gas or kerosene..soak a rag w perfume...and all the other stuff...I always shave soap though..that's one of the go to things I do

I always run the bars of soap all over trees and saplings surrounding the area..I cut chunks anywhere from dime size to a quarter or just lil bigger..but I also shave them too

Go buy some feed grain (lots of different types) find a nice spot well away from your patch and regularly put out a bucket full out for em an keep them distracted

Been doing this for kangaroos for years now
