Will this cause a FIRE ???

I've searched everywhere on this... googled for pages with little to no luck!!!

With a 430watt HPS ballast... can you use a 400 watt bulb?

430watt lights are too expensive and are not carried for most people locally?

ps. I understand we are putting in a lower rated bulb and the theroy of it exploding

Check the rating on the ballast and compare it to the bulb. I believe thats how that works. I wouldn't mix and match diffrent ratings

its my understanding that many growers do this, it increases the output of the bulb but shortens the life, i dont think it will be dangerous unless you're really overpowering the bulb (400 bulb on 600 ballast)
