10x won't get it done.................30x is great
Thanks man! But vindicated posted this on my other thread... What do u think of this??

If you get a regular magnifier or a microscope then you want 30x, 40x, or 60x depending on the detail your after. However a jeweler's loupe works differently. You actually only need (and want) is a 10x. Actually even a 7x or 8x would be fine. A 15x would be the max you'd ever want to use, and 20x is plain over kill. That's like if you need to look at one specific trichome.

Most of the ones you see on ebay are junk. They do slightly better then the $10 pocket scopes, only because its a little bigger. It's also common to see a seller say their loupe is 30x or a triplex when it's really not. If need cheap glass and you want to get it on ebay, look for maco lenses for classic SLR cameras. You can buy these kind of filters for around $5 and you'll get roughly 5x to 10x magnification that's actually pretty sharp. They're cheap because everyone is going digital and they were over mass produced.

Going back to loups. Right now the 'BelOMO 10x Triplet Loupe Folding Magnifier' is the best loupe you can get for your money. Before these loupes hit the market, the go to loupe every professional used was the Hastings Triplet Magnifiers by bausch and lomb. They are still great loupes, but you'll spend twice as much and it's not as big as the BelOMO loupes.

The reason why the BelOMO loupe is such a bargain is because it's made by the Belarus Military. Fucking weird I know. Their economy is hurting really bad, so the military got creative and decided to make optical glass for the consumer market. A couple years back when these loupes first came on the market, they were like $13-$15, but then people found out they were so good, demand skyrocketed, and now you can't get under $30. Still a hell of a deal for a quality loupe that will last you forever.

U got a belomo one though? There supposed to be the best for the money dont know if cheaper ones do a good of a job?

My loupe dont have a name on it(prob junk) is x30 and not good enough for me(i am picky) so next time round im gonna shoot for a x60 or a x30 with a better quality glass maybe! Yeah im the one who went to amazon paid 15 bucks for three lol, yeah they work but like scrog said its all dependant on what you want it for.

30x is 30x

Indeed! 10x=10 times bigger to the human eye. 30x=30 timer larger to the human eye. It's not some arbitrary standard.

My $12USD pocket mike from radio shack goes is 60x-100x with a focus. I'd bet it gives me clearer views than most other magnification tools.

If I had a commission on every Phresh 60x scope I have sold this past year I would have a fat stack of cash .. For the dollar most say this is a very good one , sure it is 60x but you dont always place this one directly upon the object ..

This scope works well for Trichome study and as well it will allow one to see insects, mold and and such by using multiple bulbs and types .. It may be 60x yet a slight movement can drop that to 30x or even lower as it functions like a true microscope............704476.png

Allow me to be another customer snob! Damn is that thing sexy! That's what i call a worth while investment....how much sir?Forget it 17 bucks at hydrohouse! ha ha woo-hoo!

I got a cheap ass 60-100x zoom with an led light on it it works great but since using that on I can't see the point in using a 30x as I use mine on 100x most of the time you can see them so much better on 100x zoom than 60x theirs no way you'll see them under 10x. the one I have only costed $12 bucks or so at htgsupply its not the nicest one but it works perfect.

Ahem... if you're blind , it doesn't matter if you use a 1000x scope ! ...I ''feel'' the trich's,.... much easier !

i dont understand why you would ask if 10x is enough then go on and say it is enough..
Im asking because i aint sure? Ive got one person telling me one thing and one person telling me another.

Im just curious because vindicated clearly states that a 20x on a belomo loupe would be overkill for trich use...i was just confirming if anybody had used a 10x triplet beloma loupe and thought it was fine thats all...

I believe loupes work differently that magnifiers aswell? Only looking for some sound advice thats all.
Thanks again

Dude, this is all you need for that job. Hop on in to a Radio Shack and grab one. As a bonus, it gives us a reason to go into a store nobody has any use for any more.

I love radio shack. Yeah, it was the first magnifier I got for this stuff. I'll never go back.

I just had to replace the batteries in my scope.

fucking batteries cost as much as the scope did originally.

i think these tools/trinkets are a ploy by EverReady to guarantee you will buy more batteries.
