I plan on keeping two in veg as mothers for a bit how long do u think I have until I have to transplant.? the others I will transplant tomorrow. I also have others that need to go from 5s to 7s... how long should I let them settle in their new home before flipping?
As long as you have good soil and don't let them ever dry out and feed them properly they'll grow fine for quite awhile.
It depends on how long you plan on keeping them as mothers. I've grown mothers in three gallon pots. Up sizing the pot won't hurt but it might not be necessary. As long as you have good soil and don't let them ever dry out and feed them properly they'll grow fine for quite awhile.
If you transplant prior to flipping I would recommend a week for them to get settled in. It's not necessary but it give the plants some time for the roots to acclimate in the new environment. I've transplanted to larger pots the same day I flipped and the plants did fine. They might have done better had I waited but I was still pleased with the final result.
I'd say I'm gonna keep those 2 in veg another month. I try to grow large plants as I have number limits. I use roots organic green fields soil. With Buddha line nutes. I'm planning on putting my others that are in 5 gallons into 7 gallons. I'll post pictures for opinions on if they need it or not. I don't want to waste money on planters and the soil if I don't need to. They have been in veg for 11 weeksThis is the key......Root bound is simply a problem if you don't feed the plant enough.....It won't get stupid huge in a small container. If you wanted bigger plants..then up pot..
Otherwise, you'll be fine, just fine!
