Will a plant survive on the window sill???????????

I got a flowering plant on the window sill gets only light from the sun will this be effective or no has anyone grown by using only window sill no lights???? just light from the sun???
 
If it gets direct sunlight for a decent amount of time it's possible to get satisfactory results, I've never just used a windowsill, but have seen successful grows with plants getting 8 hours of direct sunlight in the windowsill...
 
Can anyone see it ? The more the sun angles (autumn) the more it will get. Put a thermometer on the window sill and if temps go above 75 the sun should be strong enough.
 
make sure its not going to be noticed... i've heard rare stories but people get fucked cuz someone walks by and says; oh whats that, omg its pot.... an hour later the cops are at your door :/
