Title asks the question. I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find good info. What 4' 8 bulb T5s will fit in a 2x4 tent?
Will a Badboy 8 bulb t5 fit in a 2x4x5 lighthouse hydro tent

You'll have to get a tape measure and measure your tent (obviously 4' but there might be an extra inch or 2). Then find the dimensions of the fixture you want to use.

I own one and love it but the times they are a changing
In my other tent I am using 4 x 4ft T8 LED tubes @ 22w per + some led screw bulbs below canopy
I am growing the same clones in both, but in my BB I had 324w of mostly red spectrum heavy exotic aquarium tubes. I get great yields, but the tubes cost roughly $25 each when you factor in shipping/taxes. The question is how long do they last?
We know that 600+ nms phosphors do not last as long as blue (450-500), but LED diodes will last many times longer than cfl.
I paid $35 per tube + shipping for 22w tubes. Believe me 22w led gives 54w HOT5 a run for it's money. Why? Well HOT5 distributes homogenous light in 360*s, hence the need for reflectors. However, LED tubes light 100% straight down in ~ 120* coverage
My led tent is ~ 110w vs 324 HOT5, with better red balance for flowering. I would say I have ~> half the yield under 1/3 the wattage. Next grow I will be adding ~ 45 more led watts. That might just level the playing field

I have 2 of the 8 bulb BadBoys... I wish I had went LED.... My only question now is whether to buy an LED fixture or try the DIY route...

These retro-fit LED tubes... some like AgroLED spell out not for retro-fitting... So what's different? Did you have to hack the light fixture - I.e. remove/bypass the ballasts?

Yep. It was within my knowledge- so, simple.
A DIY kit has too many potential problems that require trouble shooting equipment that I do not have, neither do I have a clue how to use
Hard to imagine an led tube (Agro included ) that cannot be retrofitted
Whether they use internal, or external drivers, they can be easily retrofitted

Sometimes it's worth doing it right. Why no just invest a little more and purchase a real LED light? To cover your grow area 2x4, there are some great affordable options out there. All this retrofitting bulb nonsense will cost you in electricity--they weren't made to be retrofitted--and you'll probably just burn your tent down eventually. You could grab a great fullspectrum new generation LED for between 500 and 1000. You get what you pay for in terms of quality 3w LEDS and CREE and PAR.

Go to youtube and search for led retrofit shop lights
I have searched far and wide for LED fixtures, which are nothing more than standard fixtures minus the ballast and wired differently;
WHEN USING EXTERNAL DRIVER TUBES (like my iBrights), positive wire goes to one tombstone, neg to the opposite end to complete the circuit
WHEN USING INTERNAL DRIVER TUBES +/- wire to one tombstone only
