WICK SYSTEM help needed

I want to use a wick system on my next grow. I was wondering if i put an inch of vermiculite on the bottom of the pot then fill the rest with clay pellets if it would hold enough moisture or if i should just use soil.

Also, What is the best thing to use as a wick?

Help appreciated i want to get this going in the next couple days.

I never used wick but soil wouldn't give you any surprises. Cloth wicks is whats up.

what is cloth? like towel cotton?

I used Rope, Vermiculite, perlite, and mini r.w. cubes(1/4"x1/4"). It worked good but, I had to flush it ALOT. I would NOT use the system again. Just my 2 cents. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Cotton yes that is how them Dutch growers do it.
