why tie em down?

hey i was wondering. i keep hearing that people tie down the branches with pipe cleaners do the pot. why are they doing this ?

its called low stress training, or LST. it's done to allow more light to different/lower portions of the plant. you can shape the plant any which way you want using this method, making the most efficient use of your lighting. if you can get direct light to nearly every portion of your plant, you'll have much better yields. also, people who dont have alot of vertical room can use it to manage the height of plants as well. it's a very useful and productive way of growing.....
