Why the Taliban lets you grow poppy but not Bud

I have been doing a lot of reading lately about central Asia and Afghanistan in general. In the book I just finished the author (an Pakistani) actually meets with the Taliban's "drug czar" and has a little talk about drug.

As some of you might know Islam strictly forbids alcohol and the same parts of the Quran are used as justification for ban all other drugs. Also remember that the Taliban are the ultra fundamentalist Muslims who hated both technology and drugs...that is, till it served their purpose.

Anyways, the author says that the Taliban actually set up an "anti-drug" wing but not to destroy the poppy crop that produces 93% of the world heroin supply. Oh no, see the Taliban say that opium is ok since it is only consumed by the kaffir (unbeliever) in the west. In fact this anti-drug force was designed to make sure farmers were not growing marijuana to make hashish. Apperently Afghans have no taste for heroin (which is bullshit, addiction is destoying both Iran and Astan) but they do love their hash!!!!

The funny thing here is that the more I learn about the taliban the more and more the American right wing starts to look like them. Both of them fighting for "moral values" both willing to tell you what you can do and can't do, both ready to use force to get their way.

Thats interesting,Did you watch the American Drug War movie on I think it was showtime but they were saying they really think bin laden attacked us because G.W Bush fucked up his heroin organization he had going on in Afganistan they also put alot of other stuff out there about Amsterdam also that I never knew.
