why not miracle grow soil?

slow release nutrients, pH problems sometimes, metals, and they attract mites. people can grow with them but you might have problems if you dont use perlite and let them eat all the nutes before adding too much, they can cause burns pretty easily and have a good supply of nutes for up to 2 months. those soils are also not good because they could be sitting in the stores for months and most beneficial microbes may die out by then. you can also get magnesium and calcium deficiencies pretty often as well.
 
yea i agree with crazyhazey, but also i used mg soil on my first grow, they turned out ok with minable problems low yield but i switched to happy frog on 2nd grow same strain and what a difference, they were greener, bushier, thicker stems i mean they were way healthier jmo
 
i understnd and have went through a few probs that u named already crazyhazy..

what soil do u recomend that i can purchase with out a computer ..lol

ok cool ,what was the yeild from that was is better .

i have some about to finish now and im seeing about a ounce to a ounce and a half per with m grow soil ..
so what did the happy frog look likewhen done
 
i would say i gaind at least 5-10 grams per plant, but i also keep em a lil shorter.....i have a buddy that grow in the ocean forest by fox farm with 5 gallon containers n hes gett in like 4-5 oz per plant...
 
and also kinda off topic but are alot of leaves around the bud sites whill flowering a good thing or not? i would think not because of light block even though the plants gather energy with there leaves dontthe bud sites have to get light also

if you can, compost black kow or espoma. add about 1/4 perlite or coco for good drainage, as well as a good mix of worm castings and/or high N guano. adding earth worms can speed up the process of composting. if you want to start seedlings, i personally use fox farms light warrior or my own compost, just make sure its not too nutrient hot for them. there plenty of good soils made for starting seedlings, jiffy cups are also very helpful. when it comes time for flower, you can transplant to a high p and k guano medium and also mix the guano into your feedings. i also suggest getting monster bloom or a high p and k jacks classics nutrient, its relatively cheap and great for the last couple weeks of flower. blackstrap molasses(unsulphured) is also a great source of micro nutrients and microbial food if you have the money i highly suggest using it.

and yes, obijons on point. try to keep as many leaves as possible and train or trim the ones that sit in the shadows. think of leaves as hypothetical solar panels.
 
Research sum living soil mixes that can support strong microherds, which will in turn, support strong and healthy plants, which will then give u exceptional medicine. Miracle Gro is shit... Mix yer own man... Worm castings, greensand, dolomite lime, rock phosphate, N- or P-rich bat guano(depending on veg or flower), kelp, fish emulsion(hopefully the kind that doesn't smell like death), perlite, peat-moss, cotton burr, coco coir, blood and bone meal, etc, etc.... All in thre right proportions, is a beautiful thing.... But, above all, FUCK MIRACLE GRO!....

People without a degree in chemistry would poop on Miracle Grow all day if they got payed for it. But they don't, so therefore they are just spreading around useless B.S. when there is real evidence that Miracle Gro does work on marijuana. I've cultivated a crop with M.G. and it was bomb and healthy until the last day I chopped. GO for miracle grow if you don't feel like shopping online. Some people put too much creedence in silly things like what brand nutes to get and that takes all the fun out of growing. Good luck !
 
indoor soil...hmmm.go sunshine mix, #4 mix..its got no nutes its pre limed and has pearlite and vermiculite...its ph nuetral .....its all up to the grower from there!......take yer hot and rich seasoned compost and mix 50/50 with this stuff......its a charm every time .
 
m/g used to be good , this latest bach here has been landscape haulback waste..its had shreds of blue tarp orange tarp ,bits of shredded(looks like nails) and what appears to be steam treated cat shit...not to mention bits of half composted root systems...im never doin mg again..it was so good a few years back..when it first arrived in my neck of the woods
 
I FULLY agree Chronic Obsession... I hate these brand name mixes... Although Im not at all against the jobs they create directly coupled to the cannabis industry... But, it really does take alot of grower's own would-be ingenuity and skill outta the picture, and fosters a whole generation of folks who will never really know what they are using, or why, or what's REALLY in their medicine... And, to me itz just fun to find new shit, and play around with different soil mixes... Idk anymore...
 
SOIL COMPONENTS:

ROCK: perlite, vermiculite, gravel, green sand,
INERT:peat moss, coco coir,

FERTILIZER: worm casting, manure/guano, bonemeal,
my soil mixture tends to have a little bit of everything I will usual use a versatile organic soil that comes in a 20lb. Bag such as roots organic, or ocean forest in combination with a pH balanced peat-moss find it in a bale I recommend pro-mix or b-cuzz. I mix at a rate of 1 20lb. Bag of soil, 1 20lb. Bag of worm castings to half a bale of peat-moss. That is 2 bags of soil and 2 bags of worm castings to 1 bale of peat-moss.( I also mix about ½lb.- 1lb. Of dolomite lime in the mix to balance pH another note is that I will add about 4 cbft of both perlite and vermiculite to the mix)


this is a bomb ass soil that i use i treat it for several months(keep in the dark covered add compost tea to encourage the breakdown of ingredients in the soil and have a nice little fugi army ready for my roots) before use but works just the same fresh. i mix my old soil with new and refresh it with a few cupfulls of guano and bone meal and half a bag of worm castings. so like when i get to 1/3 my origional soil i mix the old in (minus the roots as much as possible) plus the additives.

some substitutes that can bought at lowes for this mixture is any potting soil that say its 100% organic so no chemical nutes, they will have worm castings, compost(cow shit) perlite and vermiculate. you might be hard pressed to find greensand (not too important) and lime but they should have that too. and i know they syock bales of promix or some type of peat moss. this is a big trip about 100$ but it will last a life time of small grows. and will give a good starting point to go big. coco coir will probably be at the hydroshop only but alot of the best stuff is there so just find a way to go discretely and it will be fine. i make a list and im in and out in under 5 min...... 5min to spend 500$
