Why is my basement upper 70's in the summer and upper 50's in the winter?

Is there anything I could do?? I wish my basement stayed about 65 degrees all year long. Also very high humidity and I run a dehumidifier all year long and the humidity gets down to about 50-52%... I live in upstate NY

Insulate and seal the room. Use co2 tanks or a burner. Also use ac

What would you insulate and seal the room with? And what parts walls and ceilings? Wouldn't every inch of it have to be sealed? Seems almost impossible.

Depends on your budget... you can get massive tiles of insulation typically for wall or roof cavities. Or you can get rolls of insulation.

It also might just be cheaper to get a tent and put an ac in the tent. You can then choose to either vent the tent outside or seal it and use co2

Well what happens in my house is my basement in the summer is always around 78 degrees so that warm air rises to the main floor.

Yeah I get that... the grow is in the basement right?

Like im saying... seal the room and use an air conditioner

Buy a roll of poly at the depot and staple it to walls and ceilings with an offset from wall, either air gap using 2x2's or insulation (board, pink or rocksol)

the ambient temperature outside of the house will always influence ambient temperature inside the house, my only suggestion would be insulate your room get a/c and buy a larger dehumidifier

Why are you guys listing a.c. blower unit values and giving half ass DIY construction advice to someone who doesn't know why its hotter in the summer and colder in the winter???

FFS...

Crack a science book.
As far as the insulation, check out the DIY Network or fucking Bob Villa.

Put the phone down and learn how to be productive out in the world, or go back to your "safe space."

Would covering up my basement entrance keep the basement cooler. With the air on down there (Furnace has 2 ducts coming out of it, when AC is on air is going into the basement) it is about 77.5 degrees. Maybe cover it up with some type of sheets or plastic help at the bottom of the basement entrace?

Fuck it. just grow in less than ideal conditions and become a pro at it.

I've been growing in less than ideal conditions for 5 years. I figured it out, I just want to super tune it... Only bad months are summer May -Aug... In the winter my basement is mid to high 60's which is perfect for DWC.

I hear you. In my guess covering your stairs won't help. Hot air wont be able to rise. forcing air with fans doesn't seem to move heat either as the stratus layers from floor to ceiling seem to remain unchanged. 5 degrees difference from floor to ceiling, but blowing it up does nothing. need much greater temp differentials. see if your a/c can intake from basement?

Can you turn your lights down May-Aug? I don't think you’ve described your set-up. What kind of lights, how many, do u have a tent down there, or a room? You run a chiller for the dwc?
