Why is hash pressed?

Why is hash pressed? I have seen hash presses that use a hydraulic jack system to press the stuff.

my uneducated guess is that by pressing you squeeze out all moister and to pack as much as possible into every block

yes, but it dries in 12 to 16 hours without being pressed, what i have read it says to heat the press with a blow dryer while pressing the hash?

so its not powder,,it dosent make it stronger,it juust how it comes from the big drug dealers, usually with a stamp on the hash to identify where it came from.at least thats how ive seen it

you can buy a keif/hash press at any bigger tobbaco or peice shop. the main reason people do it is for re-sale and its a way to store it. doing so increases the weight and lowers the quality. hash from the US is garbage, better off finding some hash from the middle east or asia.

i agree with the storage and handling ideas

it would also make it harder for it to get ripped through by mold. if it's a tight block, it can't really grow through it very quickly, so it should store better
