Why don’t they date seeds?

ETHOS beans have looked like that for a while. Probably rushed to market but I bet they're still fine, assuming they were stored properly.

A lot of breeders DO date their seeds, actually.
That being said, are they they date made or the date packaged? I could easily see the seeds being 1-2 years older than the date on the package, and what’s to stop a breeder from packaging 4 year old seeds? I recently got 14/15 germ on seeds I made in 2011/2012.

Any dated package should indicate if it's either harvest date or package date. IMO I would just assume, to be on the safe side, that it's the pacakging date if not otherwise indicated.

I get that it would be difficult selling distributors on a “best by” date but at what they cost retail maybe a vintage is what’s needed.

ACE dates all their seeds by packing date and guarantee them for 2 years from that date. Which is reasonable as they are not in control of how they're stored after they ship them to buyers or other seedbanks. That's longer than the warranty you get from much of the grow equipment available. If stored properly seeds will be viable for much longer. I just popped a pack of ACE seeds dated 2017 and got 100% germination.

This pack of Lebanese is over 4 years old. I'll get to them within the next year and have no concern regarding their viability.

I have also seen some breeders claim they run the seeds through a sander box if they are known to have thicker shells. I have also seen some breeders say and show on video that the lines can wipe off with handling.

I think germinating them is the only way to know what you have. I had a few that I was concerned about in my current run due to the same reason but they all popped except one that was tiger striped so go figure

Yeah, been almost 24 hours and both seeds are still floating. To their credit ETHOS includes good germ instructions.
Hopefully all is well and you didn’t get some “ re-pack “ …. Didn’t pay to much attention to card insert myself. However i do store all seeds in refrigerator crisper drawer. Don’t remember if i got seed floaties.

Hope they are good - smoke is bangin :bigjoint: :eyesmoke:

Highly recommend taking clones off any Ethos White Wedding grown from seeds you can get. I popped 2 ( 3 left ) but pulled a few clones. This one is in a coco / hempy ( early flower ) .

Save them genes. :weed:

That’s the plan, also got 5 banana hammocks and a 6 pack called Endgame #5. Came at the right time, just started a dozen of my own gear.

Looks like it wants a little food. Those buds are robbing those leaves of their shit. K deficiency is super easy to notice. But I think it wants a little more than just K.
