i just made a batch and it was all like back tar did i maybe not let it dry enough it went from the alcohol to a white liquid to just alot of green residue that turned black when scraped did i do it right?

first off, it shouldn't be black. you let it sit in the iso waaaaaaaaaaaaay too long. next time freeze the weed, and the iso for a couple hours, then saturate the weed and let it sit in it from 3-10 minutes, depending on quality you are after, i never let it sit longer than 10 myself. here is a nice pic of some I made a while ago, actually cooking a batch right now of cherry oil, will upload a pic after she's done!!

so your only suppost to soak it for a few minites gd after this last batch i threw the remains back in with some alcohol to see if i can strip it anymore i turned a dark green again

and i probly didnt filter it all to well eather because i used one coffee filter and it got most of the small shit out but not all of it there was still chlorophile floatin around

king, what kind of rubbing alcohol are you using? what percentage? 91% is best(idk if you can get higher %)
i am currently water curing my nugs to try and get all the nasty stuff out. then im going to make iso hash with it. this will allow me to keep the nugs/trim in the iso for longer

fuel oil is #1, then acetone, then ethanol. ethanol also picks up a lot of water-soluble substances. the ethanol you use should be 191 proof drinking alcohol; rubbing alcohol is cut with camphor to discourage consumption, and leaves a smell that you can't get rid of. hth

Here's an easy way Too do iso that I kinda like,hope this helps someone.
Pic one is the stuff.
pic two is laying the piece of 120 silkscreen in the bowl,make sure no plant material slops through into the bowl .
pic three is the plant material dried out and broken down somewhat,just crumbled by hand is all.Not trying to make it into powder as that will get through the screen.
pic four is how much material goes into the jar.
pic five is how much iso I put in the jar.
pic six is the jar dumped into the bowl after shaking vigorously for 45 seconds,I use a watch.
I kinda swoosh the screen around in the iso with the material submerged for a couple secs to let the trichs settle through the screen a bit.Then wad it all up and squeeze the iso out into the bowl,squeeze it like you fucking hate it.I also use the same iso to rinse multiple jars in a run,thicker is better to a certain extent.
pic seven is the bowl going under a fan for a day or so to evap off,never,ever use heat.
See ya in a day or so too scrape out the bowl and have a looksee..........laters.

Still kinda wet but it's a hella lot easier to scrape up like this than when it's totally dried out.

Seriously ya could smoke it now but I'll wait at least a week or so,I like to let it airdry in a dust free place space.
I'll take a pic of it as it bubbles over time,love the colors on the bubbles.

This was 492 grams of material and I used two quarts of iso to process it using a 160 screen and the above described process.....................process...........

Well if done right and ya got good screens the end result should be all trichomes with very little plant material or leached chloraphyl.

IMO if you dont have a lot of weed to play with, and you really dont know what your doing, BHO is the best route for most people, it is easy to make high quality oil without messing up. ISO is a polar solvent, so it disolves water soluable material as well as the good stuff, so a timed proccess is better rather then letting it sit for days. I like ISO oil, it is the purest tasting IMO, i never taste iso, or any nasty taste, what i taste is pure yummy chrystaly goodness!! The cherry oil is filtered with carbon.

where do you get the 99% iso? i found 91% at cvs. and whats with the cherry oil?

i buy it at walmart, 2.83 for 500ml. Cherry oil is what i made it is a different method. You filter the iso/weed mixture through some sort of filter/carbon.
it taste's real hashy, not as pure as honey oil, or the oil in the first pictures i showed, but it smokes fucking amazing. I made this for a friend, and he wanted the most i could get not the BEST i could get, so i did it this way and turned 1/4lb into 17g of thick yummy red oil.
