Why do my plants not smell like mary jane?

True. Some plants smell and are really LOUD (SMELL ALOT) and some plants have absolutely no smell at all. I have some right now that didn't smell at first but now they smell pretty dank. I haven't even started flowering BTW.

I have a 7' lady at the corner of my deck (out in the sticks), can't get within 15' without wrinkling your nose while looking for Pepe LePew.

My last grow smelled worse in veg than in flower. I don't know what strain I think it may have been Alien Kush from how the buds/leaves looked.

I have some plants going but the plants never smell like mj when I harvest
am I not letting them finish right or is it curing?
If they don't smell right, make sure you're hanging them in front of a fan until they are almost dry. Never put weed in a glass jar unless it's just about dry or you'll get a banana type not dry smell. I've grown plants that just don't smell good but to some they smell fine.

I was told to never put them in front of a fan. You want a nice SLOW dry in order to let the chlorophil and all that "green smell stuff" to dissipate. My bud typically smells dank as hell when I cut it, then during drying the smell dissipates, then when curing in jars it comes back.
Umm no that the last thing you want to do is put them in front of a fan. You will dry the out to fast and get the chlorophyll traped inside the bud. Meaning its gonna taste and smell like crap. Point is to dry them out as slow as possible. So the chlorophyll dries out first and depletes. So the bud can take its good smell on.

I'd rather have good smelling buds than nasty smelling buds but of course it's your choice.

Which is just another process of drying the bud after the initial dry but at a lot slower pace. So the bud gets its nice fruity smell as well as increase potency, Make the buds burn evenly, and all of the chlorophyll is gone so you get that nice rich smooth taste/hit. You should read the sticky in the dry and cure forum.

I don't put a fan in front of my plants but there is a fan in the room. If this fella is having a problem drying I suggested making sure they were dry. EO was commenting on how good their stuff was so I thought I'd actually try to help instead.
