why bx

Hi as above i have some crosses that i would like to make with my lemon skunk mum.

I would like to self her and also pollinate some other fem plants i have at the same time.

Now.......

If i self the Ls and back cross the most similar s1 seed to the same mum, what would this acheive? Less variables in phenos and the start of an ibl??

In terms of variation in phenos in s1 seeds how many out of say ten could i expect to to show as close as poss if not exact traits of the mum.....approx.

And lastly....

If i cross my ls to my green crack...both fems....but i want the lemon smell and tastd to mostly carry through, should i bx it to the mom to achieve this.....does bx to the mum mean that more of the moms genetics are in the plant so phenos lean more towards the mom???

Basically whats the difference in off spring from these

Lemon skunk x green crack

Lemon skunk x green crack bx lemon skunk

Thanks for your time lk

Back crossing reinforces traits from the parent you back cross to. If you bx the best s1 to a parent you're starting an inbred line.
What your s1s look like depends on the plant you selfed. If it's true breeding for a number of characteristics your offspring will be similar. If it has several hybrid traits you may see as few as a quarter of the offspring resembling the selfed plant.

thanks.....i know that DNA cubbed the lemon skunk..i have grown her many times and theres 2 phenos one slightly more indica and one sativa leaning always....the smell and taste are the same on both however bud structure differes slightly......in that the indica dom has tighter nugs that make colas, and the sativa pheno is more balls on a string.

so knowing that it has already been s1 and cubbed <<is this an IBL???

were do we stand now?

many thanks lk

:If it's cubed it's already pretty stable. They probably cubed it then selected the best and selfed that plant to make their fem seeds. If it's certain that it has been bx3 then yes it's a ibl. Cubing refers to a process where three successive generations are each back crossed to the original clone. This probably also means that the first generation cross was an outcross to produce males that were then bx back to eliminate the genes introduced. Which I find strange because only a non fem seed breeder would do such a process. If they already hold the LS clone why not just reverse her and self it.

As for your question about what results from say a reversed lemon x green crack or that same green crack reversed and x the same lemon( aka two females which should be the daddy conundrum) i really don't know and it's been bugging me for awhile.

I would consider cubed plants to be an inbred line. Even squared plants are fairly uniform though not stable when in crossed.

As long as the plant you want to cube has some hybrid genes you're going to see some variety. You can only stabilize so many traits.
