Who pops all the seeds in a pack when you receive them?

I know I tend to only pop 2 at a time when I buy a pack of seeds containing 5 or more, not sure why I do this other then I like variety. When I get reg seeds I will usually pop half of them so if I get a 10 pack I will start with 5 to cull the males but when I but feminized I almost always will pop 2. Who else out there doesn't blow the whole load when they get em? I was thinking about this tonight, it must be something in my sub-conscience because rarely do I put much thought to it but I regularly find that I pop 2 at a time of any feminized seeds I pick up. Anyone else?

If they're feminized I pop what I need, maybe plus one, whether they're autos or photoperiods. I've never cracked regular seeds. I feel like if one is going to purchase regular seeds, he should be looking for a pheno to be a mother plant so that clones can be continuously taken. I prefer feminized so that I can just keep trying new strains/breeders.

I always pop full packs & usually try to germinate at least 10, ideally 20 at a time. Partly for pheno hunting but mostly because I like seeing how much variation there is in a seed line. Makes it easier to tell who's working to stabilise characteristic vs pollen chucking the flavour of the week.

I usually pop 1 or 2 fems, and half a pack of they are regs (5-6). Like you, I like the variety so I will have 3-7 different strains in one grow.

ya i used to pop more at a time but then a few years back i had a 3-4 month stretch where i everything wound up being a blue dream x.. 3 choices but they all had a slightly similar taste.. never again lol
I miss judged how much I would need to last until the next harvest, so I've smoking on the same bud for weeks now and so can't wait to get this harvest dried, I have 7 strains going this time around! Haha

I will pop 4 at a time from a 10 pack. But most of my seeds are gifted and the numbers vary, so I will do from 1/3 to 1/2 of them. This past round of planting had 2, 3, 4 and 5 seeds per strain. That equaled 90 cups. About 64 of them came up. A few random seedling deaths got that down to 60'ish.

If I buy seeds from a old time breeder,
I buy and pop a few packs.

Unknown breeders who haven't been around long I pop half the pack to see how they are and perform. See how uniform the plants are.

Doing that at present with Digital Genetics, Elite King Genetics and Lucky 13 Seed.

Always save At least one for the vault.
I'd rather pop them all & do both an open pollination & line breeding if it's vault worthy. Which nicely illustrates how different value create different priorities. For me it's growing as many as possible to observe the variation but also be able to preserve the gene pool as completely as possible. I get never with less then 10 seeds at a time & I'd rather be popping 20, 50 or more.

That's because my background as a heirloom veggie grower who's been saving seeds for years. Bottlenecking is a big fear so population size is important. Being underground & highly limited in plant counts that's something most people don't think about, so saving 1-5 seeds makes a lot more a sense. Whereas my actions would seem wasteful.

That's what this thread has really illustrated, how there is no right or wrong answer to a lot of growing questions without context like; are you pheno hunting or growing some head stash?

Exactly is just what your preference is. Trying to pull some old beans out for some grower later own in life. Swap beans and stories.
