who has grown with other light sources in addition to cobs?

do you use both simultaneously? side by side?
for those of you who have switched would you go back? why?

I went from cfl to 70w hps to 100w cmh and I am currently using two dimmable cxa3070 3000k AB. I always struggled with wispy buds with cfl and the 70w hps. The 100w cmh would have been better but heat was an issue and the cooltube killed the benefits. I have been able to supply myself steadily for over a year now with the two cobs

I have not yet grown with cobs, but I've grown with just about everything else. My LED panel works fine, HID lights are inefficient as hell but make up for it if you go vertical (600w+ will grow the shit out of a small to medium grow room, just keep it from getting too hot), and you will get results from either. I don't see CFL as useful for much more than being a complementary light source for other more powerful and efficient lights. I'm getting parts together now to build a 200w cob, and while I'm a huge fan of cross lighting with all different types of light, ultimately I would like to go mostly, if not all cob with my setup in the future. People seem to get the best results with the lowest amount of watts with cob.

I'm currently growing in a 3x3 with a 250w sodium with 4 cxb3590's surrounding it. I'n the summer I will store the 250w and put 2 more cxbs in its place.
I find it works well as a combo, and saves me adding heating in the winter.

Growm with hps, t5, cmh, led, induction and currently run induction and led / cobs. My very first light was a 1000w hps with a magnetic ballast back in the late 90's

More efficient than normal LEDs? I'll have to follow the market. I was given these LEDs, and they're pretty good, but I dunno if he's going to eventually want them back, or if they were in fact, a gift. Either way, if I have to buy my own, by that point I'll have saved enough to do so, and if and when that happens, I'll have COBs in mind.

If you build a cob fixture and show it to your buddy he may not want his lights back. Than you can keep them.
