Who grows in Smaller Pots than 5 Gallon?

I know, I know, bigger pots mean more advanced root system and ultimately bigger yields. However I have been toying around with the idea of more plants in smaller smart pots. My area is small, and I have always up potted until I reach 5 gallon. Which gives me a 2 plant max harvest. I was thinking of 4 plants in 1 or 2 gallon containers in the same area. I even saw the solo cup thing, and 14 grams aint bad if you can actually flower in a 16 oz. cup? So, I like to veg a month and flower. However, I want to apply that to smaller pots. What size do you finish in and why (if smaller than 5 gallon)?

I think (think, mind) a well fed small root ball will service it's above ground counterpart well. Perfect supply of water ond food should allow a smaller pot with similar yields?
Sounds like you could scrog to make the most of the space. 2 plants = much scroggery...
I don't actually know how big my poly pots are! Maybe 10/12 litre? I think you'd get 9 in a m², give or take.
When I was growing outdoors I intentially kept pot size small to try and stunt the fuckers and keep them below the hedgeline. But there were 60 odd and drip fed it was a numbers game rather than maximising available space.

my normal grow is three plants in 3 gal pots and two in 1 gal. There is no doubt in my mind that the pot size has a huge impact on yield. I normally LST alot and run with 10-15 "tops". Interestingly I tried more of a mainline on one of the plants in current grow, with four tops. That plant's bud development about six weeks to flower is better. We will see how it all adds up.

My yields suck based on what i see on RIU. I am stretching my light to its limits on space. I don't weigh often, no need to. But I would guess I avg about 2 oz of well trimmed, big stem removed, etc per 3 gal plant and about 3/4 oz on the one gal. But one of them is under a cheapo 50w LED and the other is on the outskirts of the area 51 LED (which I love).

I use 2 gallon smart pots, 3.5 gallon regular pots, and 2 liter pots. I haven't grown for a while prior to my recent grow but I did measure the yield of every plant. The 2 gallon smart pots yielded about the same as the 3.5 gallon pots. If you used 2 or 3 gallon smart pots my guess is you would see a similar yield to the 5 gallon given they get the same amount of light as your 2 5 gallons would.

I've pulled a lb off 9 plants sharing 2 gallons of soil..spread to an inch or two layer

Yield is related to pot size, the longer the plant is with you the bigger the plant SHOULD get, allow 1 us gallon of soil per month the plant is with you 5 gallon === 5 months cannabis life times last for 6 months ====6 gallons, thats said I'm very comfortable with my 3 gallon pots for 3 months, allowing 1 month veg, 2 months bud, doing 9 plants in 3 gallon pots to 3 feet high in 3 months, under a 600w 0r 400w Mh/hps digital, this allows for a very comfortable turnover ..last year it was kiddy pool time 100 gallon plus, and the smell went for miles, the foot print too big

I use a 3gallon pot with a coco substrate.

I go up from 8oz cups into 1.5gallon into final 3 gallon.

Standard pots not smart or air pots.

+400g harvests from my 400w setup with around 6-8weeks veg and training.

Generally 4 from seed or clones.

If I try 4 seeds and only 3 pop then ill run a little 4 plant SOG in the space where the 4th girl would be.

I like Plant Warrior Pots. No,,I love them!
I tried smart/air pots and went RIGHT back to the Plant Warriors!

I can get 4 zips from a plant in the 2 gallon Warriors (1 lb per 4 plants in a 5x5 under 1k HPS and I use gas up to the last 2 weeks of flower).....the thing is I have dialed in my details for the strains and the pots. In the 2 gallons I find they can get stressed late in flower and I have to be real attentive with them. I switched to the 3 gallon Warriors and have less stress and more uniform results with more forgiving "attention" needs. All of this took almost 1.5 years to dial in for these results!

The simple everyday rule of thumb is 1 zip per gallon of pot size. Yes, I doubled that, BUT it took a bit to get there. I top, lollypop and supercrop these plants also. I use a very strict feeding and run AACT teas at every other watering. I water/feed a measured amount in total ml every day particular to pot size! This in conjunction with the Warrior pots unique design bring air to the root zone in good amounts. My nutrients/supplements used and their amounts took the most time to zero in on and I find that critical to my success.

I go from root riot starters to solo cups to 1 gallon warriors to the 2 or 3 gallon Warriors. From Clones or seed.

Gallons? Pounds? Zips? Bloody Yanks.... my head hurts...

I see... Yeah I run 2 400's thats why I'm asking. I've tried running as many as 7 plants and as little as 4. I only have 6 ft of total height floor to ceiling but I manage to pull in the neighborhood of 50g per plant or so. Most I ever pulled was 90 from a Silver Haze. I used 3 1/2 gal pots but this time I'm using 5 gal smart pots for the first time.

My friend uses 3 gal smart pots and doesnt even fill them to the top
he uses uncle bens topping for 4 tops and waste no time topping (does it once he sees 3rd true node)
vegges for 1 1/2 months to 2 and flowers for 2 obviously
he likes his plants under 5ft tall 4 main colas with no side branching

If I remember rightly there is a fruity chronic juice plant in my sig thread that pulled 156g dry at 2.5ft tall.

A DINAFEM CRITICAL+ that done 112g.

There was still another 2.5ft tall plant and 4 clones still at this point to weigh in lol.

I've tried topping LST supercropping mainlining along with variations of each.

I've found mainlining to give me the best quality without compromising end yield.

Not trying to be a jerk - I do my mixing in liters - a gallon is 3.79

Edit: I haven't got a clue what the heck those other units of measurement are, but it's still funny.

1 pound = 453.59237 grams
1 ounce = 28.3495231 grams
1 gallon = 3.78541178 liters

I'm growing in 3 gal in a pretty small space... my plan was to only veg for a week or two but it ended up being a month... though I'm glad because I feel like I've utilized the soil more fully as a result. I did 5 gal last time, but also vegged for 2 months and mainlined.

I've done ~1.5 gal, 3 gal, and 5 gal grows, all with soil mixes. I feel like if you are doing organic it's worth going up to 3 or 5, because it's easier to keep a stable and healthy soil microclimate in larger masses of soil. (I think 3's enough if vegging shortly) However... if I were using non-organic products with or without a soil-less medium, that advice may be significantly less relevant.

Pot size is nearly irrelevant to harvest weights as long as the plant has ample roots to uptake nessacary amounts of water & nutes , rootbound isnt an issue to worry about with plants who's life expectancy is 4 or 5 months , when i grew in soil i used 1.5 quart pots & set up a drip watering system , i was growing 4 to 5 ft tall bushes out of 1.5 quart pots , yeild will be based on useable light as long as the little pots supply adequate water & nutes , hence my using a drip feed on constant drip, my harvests were allways nearly a gram per watt , in the style of mediumless flood n drain aeroponics ive been running the last few yrs im hitting from 1& 1/4 to 1 & 1/2 grams per watt .
