my commie ass could see it from russia ....seriusly though it takes years to learnhow to build a house todd didnt build that house
Do you know much about construction?

Home building is the lowest form of life in the construction industry.
Its cake. Of course I'm in construction. I know lots of people who built their own homes. All it takes is one person with experience and a few workers.
I would get a crane for a day to set trusses tho, you can do it by hand its just faster and easier.

I completely remodeled my house from 'left overs' from major jobs.
Ok not completely, I did buy some stuff, like wire, copper is expensive and companies don't leave it behind.

Well, it depends on the house. My foster parents built their own (passive solar) house (5 BR, 2 bath). But to do it, my foster father first spent a summer learning what he needed to know doing volunteer work for a construction company. My foster mother did the architectural design (not simple). Once they had the plans and the necessary expertise, they paid to have the foundation poured, then they got to work. There were three of them doing the work initially (foster father, foster mother, and their older son). Then they started taking in foster kids (like me!), for one more hand. With four people working part-time on the house (everyone had actual jobs too), it took two years until it was more or less complete. It was also about a half-million dollar home (in today's dollars), so it's roughly comparable to the home the Palins built in two months (while THEY were holding down jobs).

The materials for the house came from the same stores that the materials came from for that multi-million dollar complex, which was built after the Palin home was completed, and was only a mile or two away. So, from appearances, they dropped a bunch of stuff off at the Palin place, finished up that house, then got started on that multi-million dollar complex.

You can draw your own inferences. Maybe there's nothing to it. And maybe there is. I'm sure people are digging around trying to find out how much they paid for the house (if anything), and to whom (if they didn't get it for free, as an add-on to that big complex). If they got it free, well, it wasn't really free -- taxpayers paid for it.

Being one, a construction worker that is. It will be the fact its real work. With your hands. As for being idiots, I think it was the dem's who said 'if you don't go to college you are stuck being in the army or a construction worker'.

My dad was a union painter, I have a friend who owns a painting company so I got the paint at cost. So I painted the whole house not just the bedroom.

What I didn't do was the tape and bed, its a talent I don't have.
So I got another friend to help me out.

Remember one thing guyz ... we're talking about Alaska here. Alaskans are far different than the girlie-men types who live in, say, San Francisco and post screwy bullshit articles on Daily Kos. Now, the girlie-man will be able to decorate up a storm, pick out matching fabrics, select paint colors, and things like that ... but it takes a rugged individual to build his own home ... you know, someone who would enjoy a 2000 mile snow machine ride across the frozen tundra of Alaska ... a man's man, if you will. Todd Palin comes to mind. ;-)
