wth is that white snot looking shit at the bottom of the stem on my clones!! my tub is not completly light proof, if i ran my hand on the outside you can kinda see where my had is from the inside of the tub? does it have to be completely light proof? WTF! could it be other factors that may cause this?

Yes it needs to be completely light proof, sounds like algea or something. Do some research on using h202(hydrogen peroxide) ,It can go in the res and kills algea then turns to water and oxygen after a certain amount of time. Try the hydro forum

Check out Hellrazers thread in the hydro section. He has info on how to make a beneficial tea to kill the bad bacteria. What you have is a serious microbe problem that is just at the beginning stages and you *need* to learn how to deal with it or it will just infect all your grows from now on. They get sort of stunned by H2O2 or lowering your rez temps but they come right back until they kill your plants. This is something you must get on top of.
dont quote me, but I had something that sounds similar on my girl. and this might sound crazy but you know those little white things that are in your soil? Well those things get stuck to the bottom of the stem and it looks like they are growing out of the stem. That might not be it but its worth a try
