Which nutrients?

Everyone keeps saying things about making sure the soil has all the right nutrients and all that, but i haven't seen much about which ones, or any possibilties for using household substitutes (other than molasses of course. which was a great tip). anything that can be contributed would be cool.

(or i might just not be reading all the posts thoroughly enough. that could be too)

Hi!
I´m also a newb so i just can tell you (as my plants do very well so far) what i did.
- reading the grow faq carefully
- put my seedlings into soil from my garden shop, pre fed for tomatoes
(fed lasting three months)
- using mineral water from the drugstore (with higher mg as my tap
water lacks of it)
- starting nutrition with 6-4-6 + Mg + Ca solution from garden store,
which i use 1/4 strongth than mentioned on the label, later on when
flowering starts i will use a fertilizer with higher potash and
less nitrogen

ok, that´s very basic, as you can read in the grow faq there are much more sophisticated methods to practise.
Good luck!

Peace, Martin

Hi!

No, at least for the time mentioned on the label (dont´t know if that kind of gardening soil is provided in your country, but i think so), otherwise you will over-fertilize your plants and that might cause some damage.
But look carefully for the grade of ferts within your soil, there are different types, you can find recommendations in the grow faq. As i wrote, soil used for tomatoes worked for me.

Peace, Martin

yeah, i took some from the garden, seems allright so far. i read on a different thread that molasses works, i was wondering if there was anything else that could do it too. honey perhaps? i dunno though, it might have something else in it. i'm willing to try, i was just wondering if anyone already had and what the results were. thanks for the tips guys!

right. won't do. although, i'm not sure if my soil does or not, as i took it from the garden, and i don't remember what kind of dirt went in there. but w/e, it'll be fine.
