I have a 2' x 2' by 5' secret jardin dr60 tent.

FloraLux: http://www.htgsupply.com/growlights.asp?categoryID=1&subcategoryID=106&typeID=66

HTG: http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=53025

The Floralux can be attached to an inline fan to dissipate heat. My concern is that my tent might become top heavy with the whole thing in one unit hanging from the top of the tent. The HTGsupply one has a ballast that sits on the floor, but the hood is not vented.

I am gonna run a growbright 4" with carbon scrubber. Should I even be worrying about heat with a 150w hps in my dr60? Where does most of the heat come from the bulb or the ballast? Which one do you think I should get?

the floor seems like a bad place for a ballast, where are you stashing your tent? I'm pretty sure most ballast come with 6' or better cords, maybe there's a way to mount the ballast on the wall next to your tent?

as far as the lights I don't think it will matter too much, I would double check for yourself but I didn't see any ballast on the Floralux.

also check HTG's store on ebay, I know for a fact you can find a lot of their gear cheaper through their store front on ebay.

Thanks,

I just checked their e-bay store, but they don't carry the lights and the shipping is a lot.

Anyways, I am putting the tent somewhere in my apartment. It's a one bedroom and pretty spacious. I'm thinking in my giant bedroom closet or just in my room. The ballast on the Floralux is built into the unit, which might mean that if I hang it on the top of my little rectangular tent, it will become top heavy and might topple over. Also, the HTG light has a 8' or 10' cord. I don't mind the ballast being on the floor, I was just wondering if the aircooled hood on the floralux would be worth it.

But about the ballast being on the floor, wouldn't that pose a fire hazard too because water will be leaking out of the grow pots?

I just got a Sun System 150w hps that has the ballast enclosed in the fixture. I ended up removing the ballast and getting it out of the cabinet and my temps. dropped about 5 degrees. For that alone, get something with a remote ballast.
