Which house would you rent?

I'm about to relocate and although I'd never break the law, I am curious about the suitability of some of the places I've looked at as potential grows. The grow will be no larger than 8'x8' and likely a little smaller.

Here are the basics:

First house:
Landlord: Nice guy. Investor looking to earn a living from his 10+ rental properties. Lives about 45 minutes away.

House: 3/2 with sewer and well. One floor, no basement. House is 75% buried and the only windows are on the front side of the house. By buried I mean you can step up onto the roof from the ground at the back side of the house. House is on a large wooded lot and very secluded from the neighbors (barely visible even at this time of year, not visible in spring and summer). Fairly long driveway (100 yards or so) . My one concern about this house is getting proper ventilation but I only gave it a cursory walkthrough. Ventilation is a concern because the house is buried. This is the nicest of the 3 and in the most "middle class" neighborhood. This house is a good 30% more than the others but still within my budget. I don't think it would be hard to live here a year without meeting neighbors. Central heating and air.

2nd House:
Landlord: This guy is in the military and currently hundreds of miles away. Apparently he's just been discharged so there is no telling were he will settle. I think it unlikely that he'll settle within a 100 miles of the house. He is an investor. He uses a married couple that live in one of the units to show the homes and look after things.

House: 2/1. This house is part of a 8 unit collection of homes originally built to rent as vacation properties. They are now rented out long term. The collection of properties is secluded and down a dirt road about a quarter mile long. These seem a bit lower income. I think it likely that interaction with the neighbors will occur. This house also has a well. Central heating and air.

3rd house:
landlord: local guy trying to make a buck. I didn't get the best vibe from him but that might be no big deal. He left the house unlocked (without knowing I'd be looking at it) so I was able to look a bit closer at things from a grow perspective.

House: 1/1 and all electric with a well. Very secluded down a 1/2 mile dirt road. Cheapest of the 3 (rent wise). Nice large utility closet that is close to the panel. Unlikely to meet neighbors. No central air or heat (house is heated with electric heaters at the baseboards). This house also has a strange and fairly large closet or storage area beneath the hidden stairs to the attic, this room is windowless and seems like a good spot for a grow. This is the cheapest but also the least attractive place to live. My primary concern here would be maintaining consistent temps.

All of these houses are in a very rural area that enjoys some seasonal vacationing and the police are definately small time.

You like and want #1 the most, and it sounds fine. You can vent into the attic if there's no basement or crawlspace.

Any of those places sound fine, a small grow like that can be set up in any house really, it's just a matter of if the landlord does random inspections or might stumble upon your grow.

Growing with any landlord is a bit risky when it's more than what can be hiddeen in a big cabinet. I don't think you really need to grow the amount you say you do, but if you must then start saving the profits so you can get out of having any landlord at all.

Nothing worse than an over friendly landlord who likes to pop over and potter around in the garden. Best ones are distant and just want to leave you alone.

Very secluded down a 1/2 mile dirt road.

This will give you a buffer for smell if for some reason you get an odor leakage the neighbors won't be able to smell it. You can also put up some security like one of those wireless drive way alerts which will buzz when someone drives up your drive giving you time to exit the grow room and lock things up and light an incense stick.

Unlikely to meet neighbors.

Nothing worse than prying neighbors wanting to come over for BBQs or their kids are running around your place while you are at work.

No.1 rule for security for me is, 'Out of sight is out of mind'.

I'd take the 1st one ... private is best .. If your not right on top of other people the chances of them finding your grow decreases

Spend the extra money for the sanity

cheaper may be better since you have to spend cost on equipment and electrical use... although if you got bad vibes just remember first instinct is usually correct... make sure you let them know that 24 hours notice will be needed for anyone including them to enter the rental... that law incase you all wonder... other wise I think all three would be nice.. bigger the better for living space and neighbors suck with drama from my experience.. lol stay high

#2 as it seems from your description that you could get some customers who live all around you. Of course you'd need to arm yourself to the teeth and worry about the jealous calling the fuzz everyday :)

Id go with the bomb shelter for sure. Your legitimate concern about venting can be looked after with a decent Home Depot fan. The second house..military wanderer and potential window peeping neighbours...not worth the worry.
House 3- You will be spending a small ransom in electricity running baseboard heaters and grow lights.

......What?

Yeah, I don't even speed. I'm actually a LEO trying to think like a pot farmer. We're developing a pofile to maximize our application of FLIR and trying to save a bit in the payoffs to employees in the billing department of the local electric co.

I'm so paranoid I wouldn't sell to myself. If I were my neighbor, I sure as hell wouldn't sell to me. Reminds me of shitting were I eat, course some might say the same for growing in ones own residence.
