Which Filter To Use For Water? (brita vs DIY RO)

Ok...

I've been using a brita filter to make my tap water usable. Although the PPM is still in the 150-200ppm after I use my brita.

I found this link in another thread on here

International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums - DIY Reverse Osmosis - For Scale Grower - Cheap, Portable, & Effective

Now my concern is this. Although my brita doesn't take down the PPM enough, it does take my water from a 8 PH to a 6.5 - 7 PH. Will this DIY RO filter also lower the PH level? I know it helps a lot with ppm, but I have to make sure it takes down the PH as well....

I mean I have RO water available locally for $2 a gallon, but it be much cheaper to invest $20 in that mr clean thing if it indeed will lower ph & ppm

You can get an RO filter for around $149 and probably cheaper if you look hard enough. If you can afford to spend that much
