Well now, I'd say it all depends on your pheno, personal preference, etc. I would advise against Barney's Farm's Vanilla Kush, though. Barneys seeds are hermie time-bombs unfortunately.
There's tons of great weed out there with all sorts of names. For me, personally, I love heavy fuel-smelling buds, so personally something like Tahoe OG works well for me. It is a 'kush' sure, but my alternatives are not 'kushes' yet have many of the same traits. I adore Chemdawg also for that jet-fuel smell and STRONG taste. I'd also go for some of Soma's NYC diesel again, that stuff smells like rotting grapefruit mixed with kerosene. Tastes like grapefruits yum yum yum.
Best is to ask around about the kind of high and taste you want, then consider your grow area and get plants that have the traits you need and suit your environment. If you're going to plant something just because of the name and your environment is not suited to the genetics, you're gonna cry big-ass crocodile tears. The last thing you want is to put all that money and effort into a crap yield or sub-par quality!!!!
Once you figure out your 'main suspects' look into stuff like germ rates, incidents of hermaphrodism, stability (no use if one out of every 15 seeds has a shot at being the pheno you want) etc etc etc.
These are the reasons we all hang onto our prize mommies. It can take YEARS finding exactly what you want. And in the mean time, you will enjoy a ton of great smoke and maybe find something you were never looking for but ends up being much more enjoyable.
Happy hunting man, impossible to go wrong with all the excellent advice on here!
