what kind of retail store sells 150 watt hps lights? i really dont like buying this kind of stuff online.
where to get hps??

A hydro store, some home and garden stores, plant specialty stores. Pick up a phone book and use Google.
But buying online is safe and inexpensive so I would suggest that ... that is unless you cannot buy online due to a lack of a credit card or because it will be delivered and someone in your home, usually parents, that you do not want to know what you are doing may see it.
Those are often times the real reasons behind someone saying they do not like to buy online but they just do not want to say so.
I would just go here and purchase what I wanted if I were you.

well my main reason is i dont want anybody to look at my credit card info like the feds for example and see me buying stuff from amsterdam then buying hps lights and potting soil, etc. but that site you listed is definately the cheapest i have seen so far and im guessing u trust it since you so quickly threw it out there, so am i just being paranoid or should i just go and buy the stupid light!?!?!? also if there was a noticeable amount of humidity in my grow spot would a small fan take care of that or should i look into getting a dehumidifier? and how do i get rid of the stranger thing under my name? man....i wish i were smart

i only plan on putting 2or 3 plants under it. i would get a 400 watt but im on a real budget. i stay quite broke i cant even afford to buy regs thats why im growing lol. just waiting on my wife to get out of nursing school!!
Dude the only thing you would need to buy from Amsterdam is seeds, and even then it dosnt state on the invoice that its a seed bank. it will sound legit! You can get everything you need in your local town.. You are obviously planning on growing indoors? If so i would suggest getting a bigger light than the 150w. you need at least 400w especially for flowering.. as for soil etc, go visit your local nursery, they should have everything you need to grow..

if thats your plan, then do it properly, dont waste your time and effort with a 150w. The amount of time and effort you put into the plants wont be worth the harvest. try look for a second hand HPS.. sure there are loads of those aswell just look around..

150w hps will flower very nice plants, you dont need 400, it all depends on your needs. There are many impressive 150w grows. You can go pick one up a home depot or lowes if your afraid of ordering online for like $85, but for $120 you can get a 400w hps from HTGSUPPLY.com, but you will need some more exhaust for that so that will be more money. I think the 150w hps gives off 16000 lumens and grown some of favorite buds under 42w cfls that were only 2200 lumens a piece, its all about the grower.

First off it isnt like the feds are always watching you, you have you give them a reason to check that stuff, there isnt anything illegal about buying horticulture equipment and you should buy your seeds from the UK, easier through customs.

First off different LEO agencies have far more to handle than they can begin to handle. They prioritize things and while growers are targets they tend to look for the big fish far more than the small fry. For the same amount of time and effort and expense, actually less effort since there is more evidence that is easily obtained like heat signatures, they can bust a BIG grower as they can someone with a couple plants in a closet and they look much better in the press when they bust a BIG grower than a little guy with 2 or 4 plants so they look for the BIG guys mostly.
You said if you buy things, meaning seeds, from Amsterdam and then grow lights someone might connect the dots. Well your credit card statement or debit card statement from any seedbanks I buy from does not say ILLEGAL MARIJUANA SEEDS COMPANY on it and instead uses a generic name so it is not as if a glance at a statement it telling or damning evidence. Also as it was said grow lights are not illegal so it is not enough evidence for cops to get a warrant to kick your door down in the middle of the night.
Of course it is intelligent to not wave red flags but some things are just not the red flags people believe them to be. I have done this for roughly 37 years and while before I send this message the boys in blue might kick in my door it hasn't happened yet so I don’t lose sleep over it and I don’t jump out of my skin if my dogs start barking up a storm because a stranger is at my door.
Not to be rude but if you are so paranoid about buying a grow light online you will likely shit a brick every time a strange van is parked across from your home because you will likely think it is the DEA and every time a helicopter flies overhead you will wonder if you should start yanking plants.
The most important thing to do when growing is to keep your yap shut. Most people that get busted caused it themselves by telling someone they knew they could trust and that person told someone else and on and on and eventually it got to the wrong person or was overheard by a wrong person as it was told to someone else.
The first rule of growing is like the first rule of "Fight Club" and that is you don’t talk about fight club and the second rule of fight club is YOU DON’T TALK ABOUT FIGHT CLUB! So many people think it is cool and impressive to grow so they want to tell their friends and the next thing they know is they are calling mom and dad or the wife to throw their bail. Loose lips sink ships.
As for price, before you jump on the HTGS light be sure to check locally and compare prices that would include the shipping cost from HTGS because you might find someone local or close with a light that will cost roughly the same or less after HTGS adds shipping. That is rare but it can happen.

He would not need at least a 400-watt light for flowering. He would just get a smaller yield and fluffier buds using a 150-watt light instead of a higher wattage light.
I would suggest that he pick a higher wattage light too, but only because it will be worth the additional expense and not because it is actually needed.
I would suggest that he pick a 400-watt HID that uses both a HPS bulb and a MH conversion bulb so he has the best of both light spectrums. I would also suggest that he buy an upgraded 400-watt bulb, the 430-watt bulb, with a somewhat enhanced blue light spectrum.
But if his budget will not allow that like so many others, like the vast number of people who use CFLs because they cannot afford better lighting, he has to do the best he can with what he has to work with.
While I detest CFLs he could add a number of CFLs around his plants and do so as he had the money to spend and increase his lighting that way and somewhat make up for having less light penetration due to a low wattage light. He would also add different light spectrum to his HPS so his plants would veg better than just using a HPS.
It is not the route I would take or one I would recommend but again he is working on a budget and if it is the best he can do right now that is what he has to do if he wants to grow his own.

(at the end of the day you want as much weed as possible so you can make as much $ as possible) I would say the 400w would be a good investment. But as BT said, the 150w will work just fine.

ok thanks! i guess ill make a trip to lowe's tommorow to compare, but htg was definately the cheapest i have seen so far. they have EVERYTHING i need. yeah i know paranoid my wife likes to screw around with my while i'm high telling me my mom is outside. i freakin hate that shit. i did tell one friend, but he is gonna be my seller, i don't have anybody to sell to. all my friends are straight. and this guy i told is my best friend and i made him promise that my name would never come so i hope he holds true

well actually if i got a ballast that would hold 2 150 watt hps's would that be the same as 300 watts? i might could do that
