where do you get your water?

So... Where do you get your water?

Do you use tap water or do you buy distilled water?

Both have pros and cons... which do you prefer?

I have always used distilled water myself, but the cost and hassle of buying it all the time seems like it may not be worth it. Any comments are welcome

the reason i ask is cause like big, i am sick of buying it all the time, I'd like to use my water, but have well water that sucks, just like yours, but I don't know if that would be ok to give to my plants in a hydro setup.

my well water doesn't "suck". i kinda like it. :mrgreen:

I buy distilled water from the gorcery store in 1 gallon jugs. Costs me about 30 bucks a grow in water. Well worth it IMHO. I do use tap water a few times during each grow just to throw some minerals into the pot however.

well I've heard you talk about how your water smells like sulfer, thats what I mean by it sucks. my girl bitches about it all the time, she grew up on only city nice water.

I use Dasani bottled water, and I've only grown about 3 times and so far I've had two males and a female now, but let me tell you, the males were so big, they must really like that dasani because I didn't have much dirt but it still grew like a champ! But if we don't have dasani then I fill up a bottle from my brothers fish tank and give them that.

I've always use my tap water. It has'nt ever failed me. PPM of 225 and 7.o on PH.
I used to let it sit for a day, then I tried using it striaght otta the tap a while back. I know diff parts of the states people will have diff water out of the tap.

Tap water or well water is fine. just let it sit for 24 to clear the chlorine add your nutes and adjust the ph. water is water is water is water is water

even if my well water has HIGH contentrations of iron in it?

I hate to tell you this, but usually well water has no chlorine or additives. It can be QUITE hard, though.

Also, if you're using municipal water it may have a lot of other crap in it. For instance, chloramine is a compound of chlorine + ammonia, and those bonds must be broken chemically. Also, many municipalities have rather high levels of certain contaminants, such as nitrate (some allow as high as 40ppm!).
