When would you transplant this (Jade)

I just got this and don't know much about jade plants but, damn this pot looks wayyy too small for this tree. It looks smaller in person than the picture shows it. Also I can't hardly reach the soil, the top is all rocks. Hmph?

Is it not a bonsai?

Well to me it looks as if it was meant to be a bonsai but the tray makes me think otherwise...

The plant looks like it could be made into a bonsai without much effort. For Bonsai you want a small pot.

If you just want it to be a regular houseplant, I'd go ahead and pot it in something a little bit bigger, maybe something prettier. It's a nice looking plant. Make sure it's got some new soil with good drainage.


Oh and spin it around a half a rotation. You've got the good side to the wall and the bare side to the room.
