when to trim off leave to promote good growth

my plants are about 18" tall and some are about 12 all started same time what did i do wrong some are bushy some are long and thin do i need to trim off some bushy leave to get them to grow more when do i trim i am a noob at this first cycle plzz help me :bigjoint:
 
If they are in veg you don't really need to trim them. The more leaves, the more they grow. Trimming won't necessarily increase growth rate.

Make sure the smaller ones are in the most direct light at possible.
 
ya they are all in light i will get some pics to show what is going on i am new not sure what stage i should bee in it been about 3 weeks or so since i started them from seeds
 
Alot of peeps prefer bushy. Bushy= More Internodes=More Bud sites. If anything pinch your tall skinny plants to bush them out more.... dont trim off leaves unless you are trying to lollipop to get one large bud and no other buds

Let the leaves be, all of the photosynthesis takes place in the leaves, the more leaves you have the healthier and less stressed the plant will be. and a healthy unstressed plant seems to produce more potent and larger buds. I only have three complete grows under my belt, so dont take this as gospel. But just from my experience as a gardner in general, unless the leaves are directly above a developing bud site (from the sounds of it your still vegging) dont touch em. Once you start popping flowers, carefully trim the parts of the leaf that is shading the bud site trying to leave as much of the leaf intact.

I grow indoors and prefer smaller bushier plants, and as was mentioned in the post above, if you pinch and slightly bend the tops of your plants, they do tend to bush out more.

the tall one looks like it has more sativa in it. the shorter one more indica. do NOT trim anything. i'd just keep doing whatever you are doing. they look great.
 
about how long in the growng stage u think they are at:joint: i am just saying they at 3 to 4 weeks along and i am not sure when i am to start to flower them and what not like should i let that one get taller and where to pinch the top if i want it to bush out i dont have alot of room to up with my plants max hight is like 3 1\2 feet to 4 feet that is all i can do for space so plz anything wouild be great so far all the help has been good
 
Also you can start to flower at any time but those should start showing sex in a couple weeks at most but if theyre about a foot tall and you can manage only 3 or 4 feet then you should start flowering soon since they usually double or triple in height.

So what to i do to start to flower them just change the light cycle or what i am very new this si my first grow
 
All you have to do to start flowering it change the lights from 18/6 to 12/12. I only have a few grows under my belt, but I trim alot. I find that its helping to shape my plants, keep them short, and increase the number of bud sites on them. Many people don't agree with this, I'm not saying I'm right, or that it isn't some what detrimental to them, it does stress them. But they are turning out exactly like I want them to. They are almost 2 months old, and I'm gonna be flowering them this coming weekend. They are turning into some nice ass bushs though. Check my thread I think theres pics one page back from the end.

Here are some more of the grow room i use and some of the other plants
 
I can't tell from that picture if its female or not. I've never had a plant show preflowers, so I'm not much help there. As far as flowering, it depends on how much room you have. THey are going to double or triple in size so just plan around that. The longer they veg for , in theory the more bud you'll get off them.
