When to transplant to bigger pot?

Afternoon fellow posters.

After some trying times with my two little plants, they seem to have settled down and are now enjoying the warm Spanish sun.

I was wondering if some of you could let me know when would be a good time to put them into a bigger pot, and if so, what ultimate size pot would be good, so no further moving needs to be done? I have them in coco coir and intend to continue with it, they seem to love it. They are both Dinafem's California Hash strains.

Anyway, always grateful for the advice.

Thanks

I wouldn't upgrade for a few more weeks. Pot size depends on desired plant size and cash to spend. I would recommend at least 20 gallon and no bigger than 200 gallon smart pots.
The #200 are kinda overkill for most backyard grows(not mine 8))
Don't forget to top or LST to keep height down and yield up.
Keep up the good work

Hey, many thanks Garden Boss, I'll take you're advice on that one.

Now I need to find out how to top or LST as you say. I'm pretty sure there's something here in the forum or on the tube.

Cheers! :)

Hey again Garden Boss,

OK, so there's lots and lots out there on how to top plants, but really not sure how to start. Don't want to inadvertently break the plant by not doing it properly. Is it simply a case of breaking the node at the top? I'm going to try it on the smaller of my 2 plants and see how it goes. If you have any tips though, be great to hear from you.

Thanks

There is a bunch of info on here (RIU)

Good luck on your grow :)

Hi Silky, I actually don't think I'm feeding enough. I just posted a thread in the plant problems with the latest pictures and I've already had a reply saying I need to feed more! Have a look at these....same plant just a couple of weeks later.

LOL, I can see your reflection in that first pic-right in your sliding glass door- I don't know the laws where you live, just a heads up

Yeah they look a little hungry, are you feeding every watering?

Do they stay outdoors? Are they allowed to be rained on? If so that is your problem. Coco needs to be moist at all times for best performance. You should water at least once a day, and always with fertilizer.

If rain is falling on them it's actually 'flushing' them and that would be the cause of the deficiencies.

If rain isn't falling on them, and assuming you never gave them just water, I would up my feed slowly.

If rain has been falling on them or if you have been giving them just water-that is probably the problem.

Thanks Squidbilly, appreicate the feedback (also about the picture, hahaha - will make sure not to make that faux pas again).

I've been taking the advice of the shop I bought the feed from, and they kept repeating to only water in between usual feeds about twice a week. I did think myself coco needs constant feed, so will definitely take your advice on this. There has been some rain lately, so I guess the soil is also being flushed.

Will post some more pics next week and see how things are getting along.

Cheers.

You can also look into FIMing the plants to keep height down a bit. Like topping it will give you more cola sites.
Not sure why, but I've seemed to have better results with FIMing than LST or topping.

Thanks Petert, I've topped the smaller one I have, but not tried FIMing yet.
My larger of the 2 plants is looking a bit sick, hoping the nutes bring it back to health, otherwise I reckon it's a goner.

Hey guys, plants looking a lot better these days. I've topped one of them - which is looking very healthy (and also transplanted it into a bigger pot). The other one is in full flower mode but isn't growing much at all. Not sure when to cut it down to be honest, the leaves are full of trichs, but buds are very small.
