When to take them outside ?

Due to space, I like to veg outside. It's getting warm here. It's 60's - low 70's during the day, and 50's at night. I just looked and we get 11hours, 45 mins of daylight, today. I know thats not enough to keep the flowering at bay. When is there enough daylight to not have to worry about that ?
 
Max daylight is in summer.. But in middle spring your plants will be just fine to veg outdoors..
I grow in March / April and harvest late october

If you have a shed or basement etc. and don't mind a little work, you could veg outside during the day and bring them in under a fluoro for a few hours until the days are longer.

Might want to spray them if you have inside girls though as bugs don't discriminate and they might decide to wander.

~13 hours or more. They could give a shit about temp.....its the hours

That's what I have been doing. I I want to plant them. I usually wait too long. This year I want to get them out ASAP. So they get a little bigger.
 
Anyone ever put out in April and have them stay in veg? And if they do flower will they just go back to veg in May ?

I had crop of starts from a local grower who had them under 16 hrs of light.
I put them out in late April, about 3 weeks later 2 of the 6 plants started to pre flower. They stalled for a couple weeks before veg again. It stunted them a bit. I Since set mine out after Mothers Day, haven't had any issues.
Oh..I'm in the Portland Or area.
 
I'm much further south than you guys, just south of 31 degrees, but I have seedlings out already. They have been in the sun since they popped. My daylight is 11 hours 59 minutes, but length of visible light is 12 hours 47 minutes. And gaining 1 minute 52 seconds a day. I'm hoping to get above 13 hours {which I think is safe} by the time they realize they are not getting enough light. If the plants were older, I would worry about them more. Them being seedlings gives me a couple three weeks I think {and hope}.

Typically I'd say never ever bring an outdoor plant indoor for this very reason! Hitch hikers! If you do bring them in, keep them separated from any indoor grows, or take some serious any bug precautions. Last thing you want is a spider mite hitching a ride.

It doesn't take tons of light to keep them in the right photo phase. A couple of cfl's coming on just before dark and running an hour or two might be all that was needed. No need to drag them inside and out.
 
Yea I've got my cfls running till like 9 o'clock right now but I'd like to take them out soon. I think I'll wait a month

Based on your day being 11 hours and 45 minutes long on March 9th, you'd be around the latitude of Bakersfield if you were in California. And based on your temps, you're probably not in the foothills.

So, the key is when is your last frost? You don't want to PLANT them outside until after the last frost typically for your area. Based on your current temps, I doubt frost will be an issue.

So you might get away with the beginning of May without confusing them into flowering. I'm in the Emerald Triangle area so I'll wait to PLANT them outside until May 15th or so.

More importantly if you want big plants, you need really big pots, good soil, and full sunlight all day. And transplant the biggest, most mature plants you can grow indoors to start.
 
I'm in santa cruz, Im bout to put new seedlings out this weekend. I got a new green house........fuken caterpillars.
I usually wait until June, because of late rains and fog in July.
I want some trees:weed:
